Art History Inspired

December 11th, 2008 @ 3:57 pm by Wiley Valentine

It's fun to see how the custom process, or WV Couture experience works. In this example Julia, the bride to be, sent me some photos that she found inspiring, along with the couple's likes, hobbies, passions, and the story of how they met. When a bride comes to you with that much vision, it is very inspiring. We begun with an inspiration board I put together along with some concepts.

Julia received her undergrad degree in art history, and both the bride and the groom are Italian. The overall design we ended up with utilized a Baroque “V” for her new last name. The letter was so decorative that at times it was just an abstract design, and at times you could really see the “V”, which worked really well for a great overall look without being too matchy matchy. The entire invitation suite was hand letterpressed utilizing a deep navy, chocolate and blind impressions.

We also created the wedding accessories for the reception and wedding weekend. These included welcome gift bag tags, menus, table numbers and escort cards that were hand calligraphed.

I knew I recognized that paper! I worked on Julia and Dennis’s wedding and their planner and let me tell you the paper was A-MAZ-ING. Rachelle - I’ve since moved on to Elizabeth Bailey Weddings and hope to work you again soon! I heard from Julia recently and they are still happy and both working hard!

Ok… I really liked my own invitations, but whoa… these are dreamy!!! Were I to do it all over again, (with a more generous budget), this is along the lines of what I’d love. Very nicely done, ladies.
