Tangerine and Lime

December 11th, 2008 @ 8:48 am by Nancy @ Nancy Liu Chin Designs

I got to work with the talented photographer James Sanders last year. I’ve known James for several years now and I know his charming, lovely wife, Lisa Crawford even better. Lisa used to work at the Mandarin Oriental where she worked with countless clients on events as catering manager. She now brings her talents to a new level by working side by side with her husband, James. It’s a perfect match.

I’m so thrilled to share with you these images from Kim and Paul’s wedding which took place in summer ‘07 If you want to be inspired, the view of Inspiration Point was their backdrop as they said, “I do’s”. Their reception was at the wonderful Golden Gate Club in the Presidio. I’ve long been a huge fan of GGC. Catering the lovely dinner was fan fave, Thomas John Events.

I hope you’ll love the bright festive colors - so tangerine and lime!

OOo I like the floating candles and the flowers with the rocks! We are thinking of using floating candles with pebbles or glass beads in the bottom of the vase. Question: Are hydrangeas a good flower for April? I have seen many different shades of blue…I am looking for a blue to accent shades of teal.

Thank you! :)

I think Hydrangea is a good choice. The problem that I find is that Hydrangeas during April must be imported from Holland. When you use flowers out of season, it is expensive and hard to find. You can find some light blue imported varieties from South America. Those are much more cost effective.
It’s sad but no teal flowers exist.

Is there a similar flower you would suggest or a blue flower for April? And thank you for your answer!

Dear Diana

I am so sorry but I was unable to enter your link. I think I need to be a knot member and I am not. So sorry. If you can download the photo, please send it to my email address at

I may not get to it very quickly, but I will try.

As for blue flowers…great question. There are very few blue flowers, especially around the April time period. Naturally, delphiniums are royal blue and purple-blue. Hyacinth comes in a blue-purple shade. The Lisianthus is a beautiful flowers but it really is deep purple. Muscari is lovely but very short stemmed. Tweedia is pale blue and may be hard to find. I love it.
Scabiosa is another wonderful flowers that is lavender-blue.

I think that’s quite a list for now.
