Although I don't discriminate when it comes to flowers, my two favorites would have to be cattleya orchids and gloriosa lilies, which I carried in a ginormous bouquet on my wedding day. When I'm not crafting wedding florals and consulting with brides, I am usually at the dog park with my dogs Pesto and Basil, cooking healthy vegan dinners, watching Seinfeld with my husband Joe, at Bible study, or scouring craigslist for antique furniture to fill up my new house. I am also kind of a home-body and really love sipping tea in my pajamas while working my way down my google reader blog list!

Cozy Holiday Florals

December 23rd, 2008 @ 2:52 pm by Kristin @ The Treasured Petal

Christmas is all about the cozy! Candlelight, comfy fabrics, winter dream tea in big, fat mugs- those are things that fill me with Christmas cheer.

I wanted to use items that I have around the house to create some charming arrangements for our condo that I could later give away to neighbors or use to decorate our church.

Thanks to my wonderful hubby for snapping some pics!

I chose festive, affordable flowers- snow white ranunculus and hydrangea, red carnations and freedom roses, real holly with berries, chartreuse spider mums, and fragrant Christmas greens, arranged loosely in vases.

I found scraps of tweed, burlap, and velvet and sewed little sleeves for my cylindrical vases. Each vase looks like it’s all dressed up in its Christmas best. I love that!

I am sooo not that great at sewing, but managed to craft a little velvet bowtie for one of the vases (which I would later force my dog Pesto to wear) and a pleated collar for another vase.

I bought a tasseled scarf/shawl from Nordstrom the other day, and decided to drape it over our table for a splash of mismatched color. The beaded Pier 1 placemats were a total steal at 99 cents!

My green mason jar candles fit the mood perfectly.

And there you have it, cozy holiday florals! I realize that they take up most of the table, and therefore wouldn’t be practical for a winter wedding unless they were scaled down a lot. But there’s just enough room for Joe and me to enjoy a cup of tea- green tea for him, and winter dream tea for me! I’m hooked on this stuff. I even asked Joe to buy me 10 tins of it for Christmas, because after the holidays Coffee Bean will stop making it.

Now cozy up and enjoy this winter! xoxo

Kris, you are always an inspiration! These arrangements are gorgeous (you know how I love ranunculus!) and now I’m dying to try that tea.

Wow, those Ranuncs really grew after you arranged ‘em, huh! That always happens to me, too. :) So tall and pretty- like they just want to be the center of attention. Me, too, again! Krissy I LOVE this whole cocktail. It’s epic. Especially the wraps on your cylinders. Swoon. BIG TIME. Wish I was at your house for the holidays!! xoxo!
