About Megan @ Princess Lasertron

Two people have asked me about my work hours recently, so I thought it would make a pretty good blog post. Someone on a message board I read posed the same question, so I figured now was a good time to just put it out there! My typical work day is kind of unusual, but I love it so much. Sometimes I’m not really sure where my work stops and my life begins…

11am-12pm: Husband comes to wake me up. This process usually takes about 45 minutes and involves him coming back several times, turning on the tv, pulling the covers off, opening windows, throwing the cat on my face… yes, I am 12. (Sidenote: by this time of the day, he has already been to the gym on his bike, worked for 4 hours, cleaned the house, and made me breakfast.)

Noon: I get out of bed and look at my face in the mirror. I think to myself, “Looks like I didn’t quite get all the makeup off” as I rub at the dark circles under my eyes. I realize that they were not caused by makeup.

At noon I start to work. I begin by answering e-mails, ordering things I am out of, checking some blogs, paying bills, and filing receipts and invoices from the day before. I look through my list of invoices to see what my priorities are for the day–what’s due next, what needs to be packed and shipped, etc. Then I just start working down the list!

THIS LIST, that is!
12pm - What Not to Wear
1pm - Martha
2pm - That Celebrity Gossip Show, and then Deal or No Deal
3pm - Dr. Phil
–get lunch during a commercial, which consists every day of eggo waffles with peanut butter, potato chips, apples, and a vitamin
4pm - Oprah
5pm - What Not to Wear
6pm - Whatever I have on Netflix

8pm: After the netflix is over, I do something personal for a few hours and take a break–go for a walk, meet a friend, take a nap, go to the grocery store, stuff like that. Cat begins screaming and running around the house at 90mph.

10pm - Back to work when Adult Swim starts on Cartoon Network. I usually get back on the computer at this time and reply to e-mails, file new orders, and edit any photos taken during the day. I also blog at this time. Husband goes to sleep.

4-7am: I go to sleep somewhere around here.

On Sundays and Tuesdays I go to school from about 1pm-10pm and just work on my research, but I’ll probably be there a lot more in the coming weeks as our semester is ramping up after midterms.

And that’s my day! The hours might sound crazy, but they’re great for me because they keep me in my own natural rhythm. I’ve been a night owl all my life and it’s a lot less of a struggle for me to work the 12-10-4 instead of the 9-5!

I LOVE your list! Too funny…. whenever I have a day off I find myself getting sucked into all the daytime TV I am usually missing. Plus, Stacy and Clinton are my heroes.

Thanks for sharing your typical day with us :-)

I love waffles with peanut butter! I also eat it on french toast and pancakes. With syrup. Mr. Taffy thinks I am nuts. ;)
