Sitting on Top

January 14th, 2009 @ 12:35 pm by Nancy @ Nancy Liu Chin Designs

There are plenty of different elements that I work on through the wedding design process.  One of my favorite elements has got to be the design of the bride and groom’s chairs.  It is always a challenge to come up with something unique yet memorable.  Since the bride and groom are so special, these floral chair designs are captured in so many different ways throughout the night, so I put quite a bit of thought into them.  Here are two that are my favorite designs for their sheer beauty and romantic simplicity.

For this blush wedding, we made these garden chair backs.  They look so easy to make but are actually quite labor intensive, so they aren’t your DIY type of projects.  These beautiful chair back designs are best created for Chiavari chairs because you can “wire” or “tie” them to the bamboo frame.

For this plum wedding, we trimmed and wired long stems of Magenta Phalenopsis orchids into a curvy line instead of a linear line.  Andrew Weeks, the photographer, asked the bride to sit for a very intimate portrait.  I love this image from the wedding and think the bride looked like a fashion model.  What do you think?

I love that you pay attention to those details. I always love looking at the bride and groom chair when they are done special. And I agree that the last picture belongs in a fashion magazine.

Beautiful. Do you have any suggestions for decorating bride and groom chairs if they have chair covers?

Before you mentioned it, I thought she IS a fashion model. Amazing flowers, amazing shot.
