Blueprint, Country Home, Cottage Living, Teen Vogue, House & Garden… now Domino Magazine is on its way out too. The magazine is folding according to NYMag.com. So sad to see the end of another great design magazine that has brought so much inspiration to so many of us.

R.I.P., Domino. You were my favorite–prettier than Lucky and cheaper than Vogue Living.
The main channels for design ideas and resources are really going to the blogs. We do exist in kind of a symbiotic relationship with magazines, though–bloggers get new and exciting ideas from the magazines, and magazines gather fresh, as-it-happens observations from industry professionals in the blogosphere. In other words, we need each other!
I loved Domino magazine for its artfully arranged rooms and the way the stylists weren't afraid to take risks. Domino wasn't about affording a lifestyle–it was about developing your tastes, repurposing found and vintage items, and seeing old objects in a new way to transfer your style and identity to your home. I saw myself in the pages of Domino and realized that I could make the most of my modest space, and get some relief from trying to copy the looks in the pages of more upscale magazines. Now I live in my own space, not Martha's space (although Martha is still the queen diva of design). You'll be sorely missed, Domino! My heart goes out to all of those out-of-work writers, editors, stylists, and photographers!
