In an expression of flirtation, Andrew passed Mubina a note during assembly. No, they were not school age, but teachers, and passing notes.
You look nice. Sort of.
Mubina laughs when she tells the story. Well, apparently, it worked, because here we all were. And I seriously could not get enough - thank you guys so much for being the reason why my job is so awesome!!
I’d been looking forward to this wedding for some time. Mubina is just one of the sweetest people I have ever met, and it wasn’t surprising that so many people were in the bridal party for this relatively small wedding. So many different people helping out, sharing memories and saying wonderful things. I was a little nervous, because we never got a chance to do an engagement session and I never had the chance to meet her Andrew until the Henna Party.
Thank you to Emma for helping me out today, and to Steve, who took some great pictures.

We recently did fabulous invitations and day-of paper for our friend and fellow card maker, Danielle Spinetta of Tallulah. She and her husband, Greg Piché, were married at Foreign Cinema in San Francisco, and had a fun vintage movie theme - Foreign Cinema has a giant wall for projecting movies (so cool!) - they showed Grease and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid during the reception. Love it!

Hello, dear readers! 2009 has been utterly AMAZING so far. I cannot wait to share all that is in store for L&S this year with all of you! For now, I still have a handful of fabulous 2008 weddings to blog. I thought I’d kick off with this blast from the past…
Alina and Michael were wed in April at the stunning St. Vincent Catholic Church in Los Angeles, and followed up their traditional mass with a beautiful blush-toned party at the Westin Pasadena. (Many kudos to Michael, for being such a laid-back groom. Lesser men would tremble at the thought of such a pink-hued event, but not Michael!) Alina and I were instant friends. Not only did we bond over our shared Hapa heritage, we just felt so at ease with one another. Our meetings were filled with so much laughter!! I love this girl to pieces and am so pleased to share these lovely photos of her day with you!
Deep thanks are in order for the wonderful Mike & Emi of Evoke Photography for their talented imagery. I love working with this duo; they create gorgeous work every.single.time.
With the economy the way that it is, I am not surprised that people want to do things themselves. Based on some of the emails that I continue to get, brides have questions on purchasing flowers from a wholesale channel. Here are things to consider.

1. Prepare. When purchasing online or from a wholesale channel, you should expect that the flowers come packed in bulk boxes. Make sure to order enough and check for any shipping instructions. Have buckets and vases ready to go, and make sure to have your supplies — like a good pair of shears and pruners. Some of the boxes that you order are assorted flowers, so be careful of this since you may get a box with varying color. Read the information before you order your flowers.

One question I get asked quite frequently as a calligrapher is “What is the difference between a place card and an escort card?” And the answer, simply put, is that your escort cards will be put at a central location at the reception, either organized on a table by last name, or hanging on a tree, or some other creative display method. Your guests will find their card, and will then locate their table number indicated somewhere on the card.

My beautiful cousin Emma and newly handsome husband Jedidiah were recently married and they asked us to do a portrait session of them in their wedding attire since we were unavailable to photograph them on their wedding day. We quickly agreed, especially after Emma described how awesome the design of her dress was. I have to say that this dress definitely made it to my top ten list (plus it’s modest and fashionable… two things that are usually very hard to find together!). We shot this session down in Newport Beach and we fell in love with all of the old fashioned elements… it fit Emma + Jed’s attire perfectly!
Also, here’s a little trivia for all you Yo Gabba Gabba fans out there: Emma plays Foofa (the pink character) AND she does the voice for Foofa too!

Back in the day, my prom dresses were pretty gross.
I’m gonna be real here and totally embarrass myself. Old photos incoming…
I am the translucent brace-face in the hot teal/purple mess.

And how about this creative getup? I got those old lady shoes at the thrift store and spray painted them gold. The dress is vintage, which is always a nice try, but I think it would seriously worry Tim Gunn. What is it doing to my butt? And are those pantyhose??

Karen & Tim had a very romantic wedding with tons of casual elegance topped off with a dollop of fun! This couple just oozes joy and happiness in everything they do. When I first talked to Karen, she had so many crazy things happen to her that would make most people pull their hair out or sink into depression - but she always managed to laugh it all off and concentrate on the positive.. I really admire strength like that!!

After seeing the Marie Antoinette post the other day, Jane, our very first employee and quality control extraordinaire, brought me this gorgeous book! It’s a very old book (date unknown) filled with loose pages of hand drawn and painted fashions from mostly the 1800’s! The drawings are so beautiful, the fashions are amazing, and this totally goes with the Marie Antoinette inspiration.
I have been in front of the computer for 2 days straight 12 hours a day all weekend trying to get this done. I now have red eyes & a sore butt.
Just want to let everyone know that Erin Hearts Court is up and running! We are still adding some more work but the basics are up! Check it out and let us know what you think.

Also I am working on my website at the moment and have it partially done (some sections aren’t up yet). You can see it in action right now just to get a feel of the new layout. I would love some critique on it..colors, layout, ease of use, photos…. etc. Here is the link.
