Painting the Desk

February 2nd, 2009 @ 4:55 pm by Megan @ Princess Lasertron

I’ve been posting here and there about my home office redux (goodbye, dining room… I never liked you anyway), and I finally started the Big Project… painting the desk I picked out.

As she is with most of my Big Projects, my mom is instrumental in this home improvement project and she helped me lift the desk out of the warehouse and stood back taking pictures and judging me (she is my mom) as I worked.

Here is the desk before… I liked the color, but since I always have to make things hard for myself, I decided to paint it a light shade of pink.

In a departure from my usual (usually regrettable) impatience, I took the time to tape off all the fixtures. I really like the original silver handles on this desk!

Look at this sticker! He is staying.

Spiders were here. Those cleaning rags are getting burned.

Getting an even coat was much harder than I thought it would be.

I stopped to look at birds.

I stopped to shake the cans.

Started running out of paint…

…and just ran out of gas.

Good enough.

I painted a desk this same color of pink in college. I didn’t ask my landlord (it came with the room), I sanded it IN MY ROOM, and painted it in my room as well. Basically I did everything wrong.

But in the end it looked so much better that the landlord paid me for it!

Super cute! But only Princess Lasertron would spraypaint in heels and a cordoroy jacket! Weren’t you worried about getting the paint on your clothes!
