Inspired by Megan of Princess Laserton’s post on her typical day, I thought I’d share what my typical weekday is like!
10:30 - 11:00 am - Wake up. This means that I’m probably sleeping right now, and that this post was scheduled to go live. Luckily it’s only 8am on the West Coast!
11 - 11:20 am - I sleep with my laptop next to my head so I can check my work email, personal email, Weddingbee, Weddingbee PRO, Bloglines and Xanga as soon as I wake up without having to get out of bed.
11:20 am - Feed our two cats. Sparky the cat has probably tried to wake me up several times at this point because she’s hungry, by “kneading” my body like I’m a piece of dough.

Sparky is truly the sweetest cat ever, but she unfortunately has cancer. This picture was taken after a chemo treatment last year. You can see the side of her face is shaved (the cancer site).

Smokey the cat (Sparky’s sister) smells Sparky in this picture and is greatly disturbed. They lived apart for 3 1/2 years and do not get along.
11:25 am - Walk over to my desktop in my pj’s and start working. I do a lot of editing, so having three monitors really enables me to increase my productivity because I can compare three things at once. I recently had my work area completely revamped and got a MAC though, so I’ll be showing before and after pics later this week!

11:59am - Check out Gilt Group to see if there is anything interesting. Resist temptation… most of the time.
12:05pm - Order my entire day’s meals from Energy Kitchen or Eva’s — they’re both health food/fast food restaurants. I’ve been living on fish, chicken and steamed veggies lately and it ain’t fun. I try to eat 4-5 times a day, but I eat in front of the computer so my desk is always messy (the picture above is right after we moved in so it’s deceiving).
12:10 - 4:00pm - Write Mrs. Bee and announcement posts for Weddingbee and Weddingbee PRO, edit/schedule posts for PRO, dial into conference call meetings, answer emails (from Bees, PROS, PR agencies, vendors, users), coordinate/write existing Weddingbee blog features and think up new ones, comment on posts, start threads on the boards, coordinate various projects for my intern and assistant, go through PRO apps, set up new PROS, try to keep 24 Miss Bees (many more Mrs. Bees) and 17 PROS happy
, plan/test new blog/board/classifieds/wiki features with Mr. Bee, BIL Bee, and Mrs. Penguin, dream up ways to increase traffic…
4:00 - 4:45pm - Walk Francis the pug. I decided one day that I wanted to become a dog walker so I’d be forced to take a break from work and go on a walk each day. I put up flyers at a local dog park, and after one long month someone finally contacted me. I’ve been walking Francis the 16 year old pug for 2 1/2 years — he is the funniest, cutest pug ever!
4:45 - 8:45pm - More of the same work listed above.
8:45 - 10:30pm - Walk to gym, workout, shower.
10:30 - 3:30am - More of the same work listed above. Mr. Bee usually gets home after midnight and hops on a computer. We often communicate with each other over im even when we’re at home.
3:30 - 7:00am - Work until I get tired (I have insomnia), and fall asleep somewhere between 4:00 - 7:00. I usually watch a show or two on hulu on my laptop until I fall asleep. With 24, Monk, Psych, Bones, The Office, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Family Guy, Simpsons, Hell’s Kitchen, Damages (most underrated awesome show), Burn Notice and so much more on Hulu, who needs tv?!
Everything is quiet late at night, and you’re not interrupted by emails and phone calls, so you can really focus and get in the working zone. It’s hard not to become a night owl when you work from home, but I’d love to wake up earlier. Mr. Bee’s mom says, “Every hour before noon is worth twice as much as every hour after noon.” She’s so right! I get so much done when I wake up early, and I still feel like I have the entire day left.
So that’s a typical day in a week for me. Sometimes I don’t work out, but other than that most days are pretty much the same. Are you a night owl like me?

That is a rigorous schedule, Mrs. Bee! I am impressed! I am such a crab when I don’t get 6-8 hours of sleep so I always try to be in bed by 11 with a book and fall asleep by midnight.
