I apologize for not blogging yesterday! I’ve made a commitment to blog daily on PRO, but yesterday was crazy busy and I was away from my desk all day. But I’m back… with pictures of my newly revamped workspace!
I bought a cheap temporary desk from Ikea when we first moved into our apartment, with the intention of taking my time to find something that I really loved. Well 3 months later, it looked like this:
Don’t be too scared by the before picture. This was taken after I was out of town for two weeks, so even though my desk is usually messy, it’s not this messy. 
I wanted a beautiful, inspiring workspace, but knew that I’d never have the time to get it looking the way I wanted. So I gave the fabulous wedding planner Kim Canale of Inspired Goodness a call, and asked her to redesign my workspace. (She’s Weddingbee writer Mrs. Cupcake’s sister-in-law!) Thankfully she wasn’t scared away by this picture I sent her, and came up with this:
All I did was provide the desk (Parsons desk from West Elm), chair (Ikea), MAC, books, and the Flor carpet tiles (which we already had lying around). Everything else — from the shelves (Ikea) to the paper covered magazine holders to the desk accessories — was pulled together by Kim (her hubby installed the shelves 
).
I bought this Weddingbee mousepad from our gear store - I love it! Mrs. Penguin has one too.

And since everyone always shows what’s inside their refrigerators on MTV Cribs, I thought I’d show you what’s inside my drawers…
Ruler, calculator, coaster, pen, Kate Spade notebook, password notebook, and Lindt Truffles.
Post it pads, post it flags, a gift certificate to a Bed & Breakfast (a gift from the Bees!), and a small portion of my chapstick collection.
Kim did a fantastic job and I love how it turned out! Now I’m definitely inspired to tackle other areas of our apartment that need revamping. Having such a clean, beautiful workspace is truly inspiring.

It’s so cute!!! I feel so inspired to vamp up my workspace at home… I have my own office but we really just use it as storage for blankets and our tools (since we only have 1 closet downstairs). While I should put my computer in there, I hate not being able to see the TV or be in the light, so I just work on the polkadot couch. It is NOT good for my back. Yeep!

I absolutely love it. I currently share a wall with the FH and while I have a MacBook Pro with a few magazine holders on my side, the FH has three screens (much like what you had) and a ton of wires going everywhich way. It drives me bananas. I love the shelving you have…that may be my next project…hmmm..

Your new workspace looks fabulous Mrs. Bee! As a fellow NYC dweller, I know the importance of making the most of my space with shelving! Are you loving your new Mac computer? I recently switched to a Mac and now I’ll never go back to a PC again.
This looks so inviting and fun. Kim did an amazing job. Now I’m inspired to do a little makeover of my desk area. I love all the eclectic cups that are being used for pin/pen holder etc.
Yay for your new computer, love the look of your workspace, you make me want to work on mine! And mmm…Lindt truffles, I my fav! We have a whole room for our workspace, but it needs a little reorganizing in the book area and I have some old files and school stuff I need to go through, as well as, some stuff that the hubby still needs to hang on the walls. With this rainy weather, I may just follow your lead and get to work on it this weekend.
I forgot, are you going to keep that chair? It seems like it’s a little hard if you are going to use it for extended periods of time. Oh and I envy your chapstick collection, mine is similar, but all over the house!

LOL, I’m glad I’m not the only one with an impressive chapstick collection! I love the Skittles ones too, and the M&M ones too, but FI hates those, he says they taste like chocolate & butt!
Is this chair ok for you? If you are more that 4 hours on it it should be uncomfortable…

The chair is there for picture purposes only. I’m using my regular desk chair in the before pic.
The hynotiq chapstick was in a gift bag I received from some event. and the free range chicken poop is a very popular lavender scented chapstick!
Love it!! What a fantastic new space.
oh and i still use the three monitor pc set-up, but that’s now Mr. Bee’s workspace. He gets my hand me downs.
yikes, can you reach up there! It looks like the shelves are so high.
but the organization look great and very cheery and not overwhelmingly cluttered.

@LatteLove: Ohh good point! Mrs. Bee, we actually have this ladder from Ikea that we lean against our wall and use to get our wine up from our wine rack above the office… we spraypainted it grey to match our decor but you could spraypaint one to match your decor too!
@Mrs. Penguin: ah that’s so smart and cute! i actually have a 6 foot industrial strength werner ladder. i always brag that i bought it off amazon for $50 and got free shipping.
I’m so inspired now! Makes me want to spruce up my boring cubicle at work.

I was wondering what I could do for my own workspace since I only have a small corner, and this post has me so inspired! I really love the chapstick collection. I have chapstick all over the house because I always want it within arms length wherever I am.
What a transformation!!! OMG - I did a before video of my office here and it’s pretty scary!!! Now it looks awesome- all the credit goes to my husband and mother who took the time to pull everything together for me while I continued working!!

The tea cup is a darling idea. LOVE love love it. I’m a chapstick horder too. I always carry three on me at a time:) Good to know I’m not the only one.

oh good, you got a mac. how do you do so that when you bold words the text doesn’t go all funky? I find that the website goes weird with macs.

@Abby: I believe they’re from Ikea. Kim customized them by putting patterned paper on them to match the green color scheme!

Thanks Mrs. Duckling. Most of the containers on the desk are from Anthropoogie but you could easily find similar pieces in your local flea market. Just find things with different shapes and sizes and go to town.
The old space looked fine controlled chaos…you know where everything is. New space looks great though…and the Mac makes the space all that better.
