The 25 Things Meme

February 12th, 2009 @ 1:28 pm by Megan @ Princess Lasertron

EVERYONE is doing the “25 things” meme that is going around right now. I have like 12 back pages of it on Facebook notes and I have learned a lot of cool things about my friends. That's so amazing about the internet–there some people who I would normally never speak to just because life is so busy, but we still talk and hear from each other on this abnormally intimate level.

I'll share mine with you guys. I am obviously filling space with easy posts while I continue to get better. And also unload some pictures. Who cares?

1. I am an incredibly, ridiculously picky eater. I never go to restaurants and I only eat about 10 different foods at all. No soup. No pasta. No sandwiches except pbj. No meat. Ugh I could go on but I won't because it's so unattractive.

2. When I'm alone and I'm thinking, sometimes I catch myself typing the words I am thinking with my fingers as if I were on a computer, when I'm not.

3. I still do the thing where I turn off the light and take a running jump into the bed so nothing under the bed grabs my ankles. I hate hate hate hate hate walking on the floor when there are no lights on.

4. I'm all about packaging. I love wrapping presents. I love making labels for envelopes. I even think food tastes better when you eat it off a pretty plate (which is why most of our old plates got tossed…). Martha Stewart says “Make it beautiful.” That is my motto, for everything. Everything is better when it's beautiful.

5. All the music I listen to is industrial dance/electronica/dancepop. Bonus, wenn es auf Deutsch.

6. I always eat chips with ketchup. Any kind of chip. Potato, nacho, even like cheetos.

7. I avoid talking on the phone at all costs. It is getting harder as I get more customers, and a lot of them want to talk on the phone. I really prefer e-mail though.

8. I can always tell where the cardinal directions are facing no matter where I am. A lot of people are like that though.

9. I've listened to Coast to Coast most nights since 1995. My favorite guest is Gynis McCants. My favorite caller is JC of course. Art Bell's retirement marked the end of an important era in radio and pop culture and I count him as one of my only real heroes.

10. I met my husband online, I guess. When I met him in person it was love at first sight.

11. I'm a big fat gamer, we can talk about that but it's boring and pretentious. But you name it, I pwn it.

12. I'm so boy crazy. I love everyone.

13. Growing up, I always dug around in my parents’ drawers and stuff whenever they weren't home. My dad had a lot of cologne and watches that he never wore, and a surprising amount of mismatched golf tees in a little white basket in his closet where he emptied his pockets. My mom had old photos, a polaroid of her holding me when I was born, some loose potpourri that I hated, and a long piece of thick, soft, wooly green yarn that I coveted so much. I could have used it for so many crafts. To tie around my head in a bow. But I was careful to leave everything as I found it–although I'm sure they knew I was always rifling through their things. And mom and dad–Matt did it too so don't be mad at me! Although I probably taught him.

14. My college degree (s? I don't know what people say.) is in Intercultural Communication and German. Minor in Media Studies.

15. I got my first love note in first grade.

16. I hate wine and I hate beer.

17. My mom stayed at home with us growing up, and on Take Your Daughter to Work Day every year she would arrange to have me meet up with someone who I wanted to grow up to be like. The most memorable one was one year (maybe I was 9 or 10?) when we had lunch with an artist at a local college, and I brought him a big portfolio of drawings and asked him if he wanted to buy any of them.

18. One of my dreams is to open a retail store with my mom.

19. When I was 12 or 13 my parents bought my brother and I a domain name, and I started a blog (they weren't called that back then, though)… if you do internet detective work, you can find it because it's still there.

20. Dave and I unwind at dance clubs. Gay, goth, whatever.

2227302

21. I started my own business mostly because I am way too immature and naturally mean for a real job.

22. In my childhood, I was forbidden from watching the following shows:
…the simpsons
…party of five
…x-files
…beverly hills 90210
…I also wasn't allowed to listen to coast to coast am but I did anyway on my radio with headphones

23. I am in my high school hall of fame for journalism and I worked for a newspaper for about two years after HS as a feature writer. I had a desk and I worked SO HARD because it was my absolute dream job.

24. In college I started two clubs… Advocates of Liberty and the Gun Club (later renamed the Second Amendment Club)

25. My #1 money priority is to save up for three weeks in Berlin with my boyfriend.

Now you know some stuff. If you're one of the people who haven't been tagged for this one yet, go for it and leave me the link so I can look!

I am totally guility of number 13 too! I still do it if I am home and my parents are out. It amazing the things people keep…I think it tells a lot about them. For instance, my Dad kept his fathers purple heart in his junky desk drawer…I mean a purple heart, that should be on display right?
