Editorial to Bridal!

February 24th, 2009 @ 5:09 pm by Laura Nadeau @ Lo and Co

So many of my brides bring in photos from magazines to illustrate looks that they love. I appreciate this effort, and I enjoy the challenge of trying to translate the look into real life.

Yes, the models are impossible looking creatures that have top photographers designing spectacular lighting that makes them look even better. But, please remember that editors are choosing one photo out of hundreds. If any of you were made up and lit like that - I bet we could get a gorgeous shot as well. If you don't believe me check out Carson Kressley's How to Look Good Naked.

I met the lovely Anna and I was inspired by her natural good looks, vitality and incredible eyes! We used the this photo as inspiration for her look.

The Real Thing!

Not only did we nail the look, Anna made it look better! I coined the look “winter wonderland nymph” but then she hit the streets in NYC…

real thing 3

I believe she is more “Urban Goddess” in these photos! You rocked it out, girl!

Keep these questions in mind when designing your look:

1) Will this flatter my face, figure, skin, hair?

2) Does this jive with my personality?

3) Will I like this look in 5 years?

4) Will I feel beautiful enough to dance in the subway?!

Check out more of this great series shot by the super talented Maria at Gulnara Studio.

I love her blush! I am a fair skinned bride who is doing her own make up because I’ve had so many bad make up trials! Any tips on colors for us girls? Every blush I try, I feel like I look like a clown. Same with eye make up.

Kristen - check out my Miranda in my “get the look” section. There is a total product list for her fair skin. You want a light pink or peach color that mimics your natural flush. Apply it to the apples of the cheeks for a soft glow.
