I have gone through several suppliers since I started designing wedding bouquets and accessories in 2005, and in the next few weeks I'll talk about some of the great businesses I continue to work with.
It takes a while to find the right supplies, and when what you are making is so personal, when it's made for somebody else, you take special pride in it. Not to mention that, of course, we don't want to represent ourselves with sub-par materials and workmanship.
With that in mind, I want to share my favorite source for wool felt: Prairie Point Junction (which is located about three hours away from me in Cozad, Nebraska!). Prairie Point has an amazing website fully stocked with every color of felt under the sun (no more need to dye felt to match — if you can think of the color, they have it) as well as hundreds of other notions and products for quilting, sewing and other crafts.

Prairie Point Junction stocks over 80 colors of wool felt which they sell by the yard, in individual sheets or in pre-made packages with coordinating colors. If you're not sure what you need or you just want a few scraps to get you started, you can purchase their sample pack containing 6” squares of every color they carry. They also carry DMC embroidery floss and have developed a wool felt/DMC floss conversion chart to easily coordinate your floss with the wool you are using for your project.

PPJ also sell books, patterns, fabric, magazines, sewing notions and kits on their website, and there is a lot of fun stuff to browse through and be inspired by. And if you live in the area (I know I have you Nebraska readers!) Prairie Point Junction also has class information online.
Anyway, you can get polyester felt at any craft store, but nothing cuts and sews like real wool felt. You will feel the difference.
