About Me: Gone are the days of being stuck with boring wedding photography, where everyone and everything looks like the same old photographer took it. We're not here to please your mom. We want to rock your socks off with imagery that explodes off the page and makes you feel all fuzzy inside. We're inspired by who you are and not what others think you should be. Playwright, architect, nuclear scientist, tax man, dance machine, burly construction man, blog stalker. We take them all. Can't wait to jump into the pool together and make something your kindergarten teacher would be proud of!
This WPPI has inspired us to step up our game to the next level. The foundation workshop several weeks ago helped us step up another level. I’m now pretty amped for 2009! We’ve already had 4 engagement shoots and 6 weddings this year!
And what a great way to intro the super fun engagement session that I had with Wency and Steve. I got the privilege of getting to know their foodie side first hand and got the inside scoop on how they met online. We had fun playing around in Crissy Field and downtown San Fran. I was almost tempted to share their hot dog with them at the end of the night, but Wency slammed it down the hatch as she was starvin’ by the end of our session together. Can’t wait to see their wedding in a month!

Princess Lasertron, Omaha
Vendor: Flowers made of felt, vintage buttons and other ephemera
Website: Princess Lasertron
About Me: I started Princess Lasertron in 2005 creating custom bouquets out of
felt, vintage buttons, and other ephemera. I give each bride an
heirloom-quality piece that will bring a personal dimension to their
wedding and everyday lives. What I love most is meeting and
collaborating with unique women whose weddings are a true
representation of them and their partners. As for me...I live
nocturnally, I'm an INTP, I play Dungeons and Dragons every other
Saturday, and I'm a perpetual student.
This is the Blues Clues bouquet.

Back in December, a group of students in Virginia did a play about Blues Clues and these flowers were a closing night gift to the director.

Punam Bean, New York City
Vendor: Photographer
Website: Punam Bean Photography
About Me: Punam Bean is an international destination wedding and portrait photographer based out of New York City. She loves animals, and particularly longs for the companionship of a bulldog, in addition to that of her ever loving Husband. She eats pizza for breakfast every single day, and spends too much money on dresses. In this, her first year of business, she's booked 30 weddings all around the world, in New York City, California, Jamaica, Venezuela and Nigeria. Her images have been described as emotional, whimsical and elegant.
Day two of my lovely weekend was spent with Jennifer and Jose. There is something about two people in love dancing that really gets me. But then there are two families -one is Irish, one is Peruvian, and they embrace each other. All of the Peruvian family was dancing a jig to Irish songs and singing along. All of the Irish family was swinging their hips to Marc Anthony.
Oh, yeah, and then there was that one song. And Jennifer lit up, and Jose swept her off her feet, and the exchange was so rich and rife with love that I just couldn’t keep it together. I cried and I cried so hard I felt a bit silly. And THEN Jennifer’s brother proceeded to sing Quando Quando Quando in a buttery Michael Buble voice, and I just couldn’t take it anymore. I cried at the amazing volume of love in the room between these two people, and these two families. I am humbled and honored to have been a part of the record keeping of the amazing, amazing day.

Vendor: Invitations & Stationery
Website: Hello! Lucky
About Me: We (sisters Eunice and Sabrina Moyle) started Hello!Lucky in 2003 out of Eunice's garage with a hand-cranked Vandercook printing press. Since then we've created whimsical stationery and greeting card designs for almost every occasion, including wedding invitations, save the dates, thank you notes, and a line of hilarious sock monkey cards! We love crafting, flea marketing, fashion, travel, and all things paper. We're based San Francisco with a studio in London, so we're immersed in design trends from around the world!

Last week we had the pleasure of attending Zac Posen’s show at Fashion Week, for which we’d letterpress printed the invitations. It was one of those can’t-miss opportunities and our first time attending a runway show. It was pretty fabulous, we gotta say!

Laura Hooper, Northridge, CA
Vendor: Calligraphy
Website: Laura Hooper Calligraphy
About Me: I've been practicing the art of calligraphy since the age of 12 and nothing gives me more pleasure than waking up each morning knowing I get to do what I do each day. I love having the ability to infuse my own personal style into each of my bride's special day. When I'm not working, I enjoy traveling, hiking, reading and painting; but most of the time I don't consider calligraphy to be work at all!

The Grand Poobah of our save the date line is the tri-fold. With six panels available, you can include information regarding every aspect of your wedding weekend. I usually like to incorporate a cover, map and formal save the date on the front, but on this save the date in particular we’ve got information provided on the reverse side as well. It includes an itinerary, accommodations and travel information.

Laura Nadeau, New York City
Vendor: Makep Artist
Website: Lo and Co.
About Me: Laura (Lo) loves all brides all of the time, and nothing makes her happier than making another woman feel great! Laura was born and raised in rural Alaska among huskies, grizzly bears and way too much flannel! With stars in her eyes, Lo moved to New York to pursue acting and realized how makeup could help to create a character and transform an actor. Laura began to see how she could use this skill to transform women in their everyday life and thus her new passion was born - helping women feel confident and beautiful through makeup.
I wrote this over a year ago, but it still holds true!

I remember spending a year growing out my bangs out in 1998 to have the sleek one length hair do. Times have changed and I have chopped my locks to sport the bang look and I have never been happier!
I love bangs because they can create a great frame to your bone structure and highlight your best assets. If you have fab cheek bones, cutting bangs at that level will draw the eye to them. If you have gorgeous eyes, a shorter bang can add emphasis.

Anne Ruthmann, New England
Occupation: Photographer
Website: Anne Ruthmann Photography
About Me: Things that make me happy: old people getting crazy on the dance floor, world travel, hello hugs & goodbye kisses, cultural celebrations, acoustic live music, indie handmade crafts, cinema, environmental protection, diversity, the sound of nature, authenticity, white water rafting, discovering artists, photographing people in love. Things that bore me: bland food, celebrity gossip, negativity, fake anything, waiting in lines, egotism.

Do you ever have those days when everything seems to go wrong? Well, I’ve been experiencing a full month of technology failures. First I had a hard drive crash on me (nothing original was lost, just a ton of time and work that I had put into a lot of images). That didn’t surprise me though, since hard drive crashes happen at least once a year with the amount of heavy work I do, which is why I’m religious about backing up everything in multiple places.
Then, while I was at WPPI, several of my email accounts just turned themselves “off”. This has never happened to me before, so it took me a while to figure out what the problem was and when I went to restore the accounts, a whole bunch of old emails that I had already dealt with swamped my inbox again and now it’s hard to figure out which way is up in my inbox.
As if that wasn’t enough, my phone just loaded a bunch of voicemails that I never received dating back almost two weeks. I seriously feel like I’m being Punked! This feels much too bizarre to be reality. Alright Ashton, where are you hiding the cameras?

Flush Designs, Pasadena
Vendor: Invitations, Event & Floral Design, Photography
Website: Flush Designs
About Me: Flush Designs is run and owned by me, Courtney C. Keefe de Jauregui. It is all encompassing, from the custom & handmade invitations seen at my website, to full exploration in event styling and design, to flower arranging, to playing sidekick and second shooter to my husband's wedding photography. I am working on becoming a wedding "One stop shop". :) I am a graduate in fine art painting, but a self taught graphic designer. As I still needed to get my hands dirty, I started taking letterpress classes, thus becoming my new love. When I am not busy working (usually still in my pajamas) and telling myself to remember to buy a new chair (this one hurts), I am singing to my 3 cats and enjoying a cold pint with my husband at our favorite local Irish pub. Maybe it's in the reverse order. :)
The save the date for my great friends Jill and Adam! Designed by me! (of course
) They are two very funny people and this save the date really shows it. It is three color letterpress with the wine stain (which I love and will be carried through out the whole invitation suite currently under construction) is digitally printed by me but the letterpress is printed ever so beautifully by Spark Letterpress.

About Me: Hi, I am Amelia. I like to dance and sing my heart out in the car. My family has been in the wedding industry for 3 generations. Being the first photographer in the family, it has given me a unique perspective on how to keep things fresh and fun! Hello, I am Justin. I like to play Ping-Pong, and I too like to dance. Being a film and TV producer by trade, I am obsessed with finding the story that every image has to tell. Collectively we are wedding, portrait and music photographers. Now that we've started to tell you our story, why don't you let us capture yours?
After a fun-filled crazy week we spent in Las Vegas at the WPPI Convention (photos to come soon!), we’ve been playing a crazy game of catch-up, so we plan to be blogging quite a bit this week!
To start our week off, we went with Virginia + John’s engagement. This sweet couple had hired us almost two years ago, so we were definitely looking forward to seeing them again after such a long time. We shot the session in Fullerton at one of the local high school football stadiums. The weather was questionable as it had rained all the way up until we started to shoot, but we ended up LOVING the conditions and the clouds were unreal!
On a side note, if you like Virginia’s hair and make-up, the credit goes to Nicole DeAnne, the amazing brains behind the beauty!
