Amina @ Still Motion's Picture
Amina Wojcik, Toronto, Canada Vendor: Photography Website: Still Motion About Me: Amina is sassy, easily combustible, and eclectic. Her images are both timeless and edgy, but most importantly, her images are emotional. They tell not only the grander story of the day, but also the peripheral moments that make up the final feature. She is inspired by both photojournalism and fashion photography, creating a truly unique approach and experience.
About Amina @ Still Motion

ethan-0193.jpg

Last April, Patrick, Michael, John and I flew to LA for a wedding. We drove about 2 hours north from the airport to Santa Barbara, where the wedding took place.

Except for the preparations - hair, makeup, dressing - everything was outdoors. It was a beautiful, sunny day, about 20 degrees Celsius, with lots of decor. The location was spectacular - a (roughly) 2-acre lot with a pond, pool, guest house and an incredible residence that was perfect for some more classical photographs.

Of course, in true StillMotion style, we got a little adventurous and started carrying couches around the pond… Read more…

About Sabrina & Eunice @ Hello! Lucky

How much do we love the work of Andrew Bannecker? A lot, that’s how much! We found him through the always-genius Grain Edit. We love his color palettes and the combination of layered detail and textures with flat graphics — and the hilarious, tongue-in-cheek tone of his work, is, needless to say, right up our alley!

leighmiller's Picture
Leigh Miller, Coronado, CA Vendor: Photographer Website: Leigh Miller Photography About Me: People often ask me how I got my start in wedding photography. The truth is i fell into it. Almost by accident. But after my first wedding I was sold. I moved full force ahead. And within a year I went full-time leaving behind my life as a therapist and social worker. And the rest, as they say, is history. In November I celebrated my 3rd year of being a full-time photographer! Today, I feel so blessed to get to do something I love and to work with amazing couples all over the country and world! I have traveled to the Bahamas, Jamaica, all over Mexico and all the way to England to shoot weddings. I live in southern California with my husband, two sons, two really loud birds and a short, fat yellow lab named Mrs. Jones. All, at various times, make an appearance on my blog.
About leighmiller

I heart Rebecca and Eric. I am constantly amazed at the wonderful couples I get to work with and how lucky I am to have the job I have. I met Rebecca and Eric a few nights before their wedding at the resort where the wedding was in Mexico. Rebecca and I immediately hit it off. I swear if I had a sister, she would be just like Rebecca. (Both our mothers should probably count their blessings they didn’t have to deal with both of us together!) I seriously felt like I’d known her for years. Isn’t it amazing when that happens?

But back to the wedding! Rebecca and Eric were married at the El Dorado Royale in Riviera Maya. Rebecca looked gorgeous and wore the most fabulous Nicole Miller wedding gown and Eric was a trooper despite having one of the worst sunburns I’ve ever seen in my life! So without further delay, cause I know they’ve been patiently waiting, here are a few pics from the wedding day and the day after in and around Riviera Maya and the Rosewood Mayakoba where I hope to shoot a wedding or at least spend a relaxing weekend soon! Congrats guys! Can’t wait to hear about Africa and Rebecca can’t wait to catch up in NYC this fall.

Laura @ Laura Hooper Calligraphy's Picture
Laura Hooper, Northridge, CA Vendor: Calligraphy Website: Laura Hooper Calligraphy About Me: I've been practicing the art of calligraphy since the age of 12 and nothing gives me more pleasure than waking up each morning knowing I get to do what I do each day. I love having the ability to infuse my own personal style into each of my bride's special day. When I'm not working, I enjoy traveling, hiking, reading and painting; but most of the time I don't consider calligraphy to be work at all!

Bridal Trial Dos

February 25th, 2009 @ 4:09 pm by Laura Nadeau @ Lo and Co

A bridal makeup trial is a must if you are hiring a pro makeup artist for your wedding day. Don’t risk being stressed out and unhappy by forgoing this important step. Try to plan meeting a friend for dinner after your trial so you can get her reaction.

You should feel comfortable in your makeup but also look special enough for your hair style and wedding dress. So many of my brides ask for a little more makeup on their wedding day than we had originally planned during the trial.

When attending a makeup trial, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. Be prepared. Bring any photos that inspire you. Even if you don’t know exactly what you want, think about which celebrities you think look good on the red carpet.
  2. Do you feel comfortable? Do you like their personality? This is the person who you will be staring at right before you put on your dress.
  3. A bridal makeup artist should take an interest in finding out what you think is beautiful. There is no “one size fits all” in beauty. You want to look great in person as well as in photos.
  4. Do they seem professional and dependable? Is their makeup clean and organized? Were they punctual?

Courtney @ Flush Designs's Picture
Flush Designs, Pasadena Vendor: Invitations, Event & Floral Design, Photography Website: Flush Designs About Me: Flush Designs is run and owned by me, Courtney C. Keefe de Jauregui. It is all encompassing, from the custom & handmade invitations seen at my website, to full exploration in event styling and design, to flower arranging, to playing sidekick and second shooter to my husband's wedding photography. I am working on becoming a wedding "One stop shop". :) I am a graduate in fine art painting, but a self taught graphic designer. As I still needed to get my hands dirty, I started taking letterpress classes, thus becoming my new love. When I am not busy working (usually still in my pajamas) and telling myself to remember to buy a new chair (this one hurts), I am singing to my 3 cats and enjoying a cold pint with my husband at our favorite local Irish pub. Maybe it's in the reverse order. :)
About Courtney @ Flush Designs

I have yet again been asked by the lovely Emily at Once Wed to do another table top for her ever popular table top trends series on her website. This one has been a long wait as the past couple of weekends has really been crazy and if not crazy then raining.

I wanted a to design a table that really felt inviting just how I think Frida’s garden would be. I wanted to make sure the table had room for food as a family style event seems a must with this table! Oh and the calligraphy is by the lovely Lisa at Pen and ink! So beautiful.

So here it is with out further introduction. The Frida Kahlo table top! Enjoy! I could post a million pics so if you want to see more let me know I will do a part dos. ;)

jerryyoon's Picture
Jerry Yoon, San Francisco Vendor: Photographer Website: Jerry Yoon Photography About Me: Gone are the days of being stuck with boring wedding photography, where everyone and everything looks like the same old photographer took it. We're not here to please your mom. We want to rock your socks off with imagery that explodes off the page and makes you feel all fuzzy inside. We're inspired by who you are and not what others think you should be. Playwright, architect, nuclear scientist, tax man, dance machine, burly construction man, blog stalker. We take them all. Can't wait to jump into the pool together and make something your kindergarten teacher would be proud of!
About jerryyoon

I have this special connection with Brendan and Elizabeth. Actually, Ingrid and I both have a connection with the two of them. I used to work with them during my CALPACT days on the UC Berkeley campus. It was surreal getting to shoot them, because now we were in this completely different situation. I’m used to asking them to help me teach a class or something, not snuggle or kiss in front of me while I take photos of them. I think that’s what made it all the more fun!

Ingrid and Elizabeth had the architecture major connection. When we went inside Wurster Hall, the architecture major building on the Berkeley campus, I think they were both flooded with memories of all-nighters on the 8th floor. I just couldn’t believe how messy that place was! Well, they both survived and now were able to play inside the building, instead of having to worry about making the perfect cardboard structure.

Brendan and Elizabeth also have the biggest hearts when it comes to helping their friends out for their weddings. I’ve seen them at so many weddings decorating, and now I look forward to seeing them being on the receiving end of all that lovin’. You guys rock!

Elizabeth was having fun, while Brendan became a little camera-shy.
