About nancyliuchin

bouquet to art 2009 piece

For those who are not familiar with Bouquets to Art, it really is one of the most wonderful exhibits at the de Young Museum. 150 floral designers are asked to select an art piece from the de Young’s collection of works as an inspiration for a floral piece.

I will do another post but I thought I would share my piece this year which was inspired by a dress sculpted from glass. My goal was to recreate and capture the illumination of the dress through the structure that I built using acrylic tubes. I used white flowers so that it would not compete with the simplicity of the structure.

Hope you enjoy!

Dear Wedding Bee Fans…
Though I am suppose to be in bed recovering from the flu, I had to return to refresh my arrangement. The turnout was outstanding this year and the designs were by far some of the best. I will post a few of my favorites. Stay tuned. Thank you for your lovely comments. Keep them up. I’ll do a follow up article about the process with Bouquets. Thank you Bree…for your kind words. I was very lucky to get that piece. It truly was awe inspiring!
