Last Saturday, I went to a bridal shower for my friend Jen. She asked me a few months ago to make the flowers for her April 11 wedding. She is using these really beautiful deep jewel tones for her wedding colors.

Mobile Monday is a weekly collection of iphone photos and twitter captions from Anne’s daily adventures.

Not quite boat weather yet in Boston.

I’ve written several articles on By The Numbers, so I thought I would share with you how many flowers we used for this modern, urban, luxe wedding for 150 guests.

Last summer I had the pleasure of working on this fabulous wedding that featured peacock feather, orchids, and crystals. It was heavenly. So here’s what it took to do this wedding….
Last July, Kristin and Jesse let us in on their little secret: they were planning to elope in Mexico in March, and they wanted us to be there to document it! Together for six years, their families knew they were going on vacation and expected Kristin to come home with an engagement ring. Kristin and Jesse returned home giddy to share not just Kristin’s engagement ring (which she wore for the first time in public on the plane to Mexico), but wedding bands, too!!
Jesse and Kristin are friends with one of my couples from 2006, Katie and Mike. I also find out that Jesse went to high school in New Hampshire with several mutual friends too, including another one of my 2006 brides, Erin Lenz, (my) wedding planner and florist Kate Parker, and even a friend from middle school who used to live right down the road from me (all of this, we discovered, on Facebook)! It is a small world indeed.
For the sake of all the friends and family who are itching to see pictures of their nuptials, I have packed this post with lots of beautiful images. But first, a slideshow. Click here to open in a separate window.
After a morning relaxing by the pool together, I accompanied Kristin to her hair appointment at the resort’s spa. Cool as a cucumber, she is.
The other weekend we watched Rachel Getting Married, and while the movie was a downer we were inspired by how they used eclectic collectibles as seating cards, each tagged with the guest’s name. (Note: seating cards direct wedding guests to their tables, and are typically displayed on a table at the reception, creating the perfect opportunity to display a collection; they can also double as favors). This made us think of all the possibilities that could come from this idea!

First off, miniature modern chairs, as in “please be seated” - available in different styles on eBay and via dollhouse miniature shops (photo via Chez Larsson’s Flickr photostream).

Charlotte contacted me in December about making a ring pillow for her sister Claire’s July wedding. I thought ’how sweet’…I have a soft spot for sisters as I have two. Charlotte told me there wasn’t a wedding theme but she had seen a previous pillow with calla lilies, and thought it was a great fit for her sister’s romantic and elegant wedding. She sent me a few photos of the bride’s and flower girls’ dresses along with the color palette of red, ivory, champagne and gold. What a beautiful gift from one sister to another.
Hope you enjoy!
(ed’s note: This is Part 3 of Punam’s series on Boomie and David’s wedding week. You can check out Part 1 and Part 2 as well.)
It’s cold here in Santa Fe, and it just might snow. It’s funny how much weather I’ve passed through. I can barely remember how very sweaty I was on Boomie and Davids wedding day. And though I said he didn’t have to, Husbone was a real hero and wore his suit jacket, despite the heat. There are many interesting things that happened on this wedding day, but at the end of it there was one overwhelming notion. These two people love each other, so utterly and completely. It’s nice to observe the internationality of wonderful love. It’s the same across the globe -people find each other, they connect and they are enriched in each other. It’s such a great honor to be the one to preserve this love in photographs, and I’m honored to have been chosen for the task. This one, specifically.
Just to be clear, in my contract I’m the only professional photographer that can be hired for any event that I’m commissioned to photograph. However in Nigeria, it’s a general tradition that many family members hire their own photographers. In this particular case, it being Africa and all, I was happy to be flexible. But I must say, I’ve never worked so hard in my whole life. Seriously. I thought it funny that the mob of photographers and videographers surrounding all the action at close proximity at all times were often referred to off-handedly as the paparazzi. Seriously folks. I think that this is what it must be like to be a paparazzi photographer. Never before have I had to employ all my limbs, knees, elbows and all, to fight my way to a photograph. Good thing I’ve got New York in my bones, because my formerly timid California Girl self would have been no match. But between Husbone’s manliness, and my squirminess, we made it through. We fought for this wedding like we’ve fought for each other. And in all the chaos, amid those one thousand plus people, Boomie and David were the beating heart of the giant beast. Let me just say, I barely removed my wide angle lens all day.
I just want to say, to Boomie and David, thank you so much for this opportunity. Husbone and I have come to care for you both, and it seriously was one of the best experiences having you both to lay on couches with, in your hotel room, exhausted together, and looking forward to a new friendship in America. As overwhelming as it may have been at times, I’m so glad it was the two of you that we were working so hard for. You guys are so beautiful!
I designed these cookie favors for a wedding at the New York Botanical Garden, and I was so pleased with the way they came out, I just had to share.
1. Currently reading A Shop of One’s Own: Women who turned the dream into reality by Rachel Epstein. I’m finding it incredibly motivating.

Yvonne and Alan were nervous at the beginning of this engagement shoot because they didn’t know if they would look comfortable in front of a camera. It didn’t take long for them to loosen up, though. By the end of the session, we were having such a great time, and I think it was one of our most relaxed sessions ever! I love that they are so into each other and like to laugh a lot.
We won’t be able to shoot their wedding since their Vegas venue comes with a mandatory photographer, gasp! But I’m glad that we did get this session in with them. The whole session was shot on the Berkeley campus. Kudos to those who can recognize the places where we shot. I think the Campanile shot is the only one where we give much clues to the location on campus.
Yvonne looks stunning! Alan did a good job of framing her.
