My Wedding: Part 1

April 7th, 2009 @ 12:23 pm by Llubav

I’ve been having so much fun with my brand new scanner, and I just couldn’t wait to scan some of the stationery from our wedding. As promised, I will be sharing the process and moments of what our big day was like. So showing the paper goods would be a good start. My husband hand-cut large sheets of heavy stock, cold press paper, and then we screen printed all the components on our little kitchen table. I had three screens burned with special silk for paper printing: one for the main envelope and the return address, another screen for just invitations, and one more for the rsvp, gift tag, thank you card, table card and name card.

This project was a true test of the love we have for each other because screen printing takes a lot of time, patience and coordination. For me the icing on the cake was being able to design and print our invitations. For my husband, the icing on the cake was not having to pay for them. ;)

antique inspiration

Some inspiration pieces we found at an antique shop in Rochester, Michigan. They are business cards -aren’t they beautiful?

I can’t say it enough but I love vintage, so I really wanted the stationery to have an old feeling -something you could find at the flea market or at an antique store or in your grandmother’s treasure box. I also wanted a Victorian touch, and by adding an ivory paper doily, I think I did the job. We used kraft paper envelopes and a red wax seal with a rose design. My dear mother-in-law did all the calligraphy -thank you Barbara! I’m lucky to have a husband that gave me full range with this project, but I think after all the screen-printing he had to assist me with, weekend after weekend in our little apartment, if he had to do it all over again he would insist on hired help. :-P

llubav stationery
Stationery from L to R: table card displaying alphabet letters, chocolate round doily hole punched for notes (Kate’s Paperie), main envelope, rsvp card, thank you note with glitter (not so clear but it’s there), gift tag, invitation wrapped in square paper doily, name card, and in the center rsvp return envelope.

Those three cards above are business cards? What a great find. It would have been really great if you had bigger pictures of them though. I’m also curious about what year these are from.
