Venue decor! Our ceremony will be held in a ballroom with soaring ceilings but no windows. We want to dim the lights in our ballroom for ambience but want to highlight our aisle.

How can we brighten the aisle if we can’t use candles or ceiling track lights?

I have a question for Angel or any of the fab. weddingbee pros on starting up their businesses. As an aspiring wedding coordinator, I’d like to know what the best approach is to take when building those first relationships with vendors. Also, how did you know what to charge for your services when you were a “newbee?” Love weddingbee pro. You all are so inspiring!

Photography: I’ve asked this once, but am interested in what the other pros have to say. What should/could we be doing now to improve our photographs on the day?

What makes a couple easy to work with and gives you the best result?

What are your favorite wedding photography blogs? What type of equipment do you take with you to weddings?

I have lots of questions!
photographers- How do you get the couple comfortable when shooting engagement photots? How do you come up with creative shoots? The pictures posted on here are so amazing, I always wonder how the photographers make each shoot so unqiue and fun!

What do you recommend couples to wear to engagements shoots? We have ours next month and I have no clue what to wear!

Planning- Brides obviously come to planners with a budget, and I’ve often heard tips sayign prioritize what you want, but do you have any other tips for budget concious brides?

Also, how do you come up with a cohesive look? I am planning my own wedding and I have so many ideas, I don’t want it to be over the top or not flow.

General- How/why did you get started in the industry?

I had two floral consultations in the small town where we are getting married. One store is larger, has an extensive staff, their own greenhouses and great relationships with local growers - they quoted us about $2000 for all of our florals. The other store is a smaller boutique with 3 designers and I assume fewer local relationships because I was told that many of my flowers (roses, hydrangeas, and rannunculus) would have to be shipped in from over seas - they quoted us $5000 for the same quantity of flowers. How can this be? Should I be worried about going with the less expensive store (whose designer I loved) or just feel lucky that they are so reasonably priced?!

Excellent post. I actually contacted Punam Bean directly about taking classes for Photoshop in NYC and she gave me three really good options.

I’d like to here more if there are any.

OH DO I!!!

For the stationery PROs:

I am tackling my own ceremony programs.

Is there a tool or a method of folding cardstock that will produce a clean fold line and even spacing across the top?

I tried using a ruler but when I crease the paper, the crease line looks ugly.

Any ideas? I’m making 60 of them!!!

What wedding aspect is your favorite or was the most memorable? Why?

I am not sure which pro to address this question to, but I don’t really understand how it all comes together.

I would love someone to do a post on how much time you should allow for each thing that day, how to keep all your stuff organized for the few days before (cardboard boxes? storage containers? lists? pictures? HOW?), and how it all really comes together.

I have lots of little pieces but don’t understand the big picture..

This was a question on the boards… How would you prefer a potential client let you know they decided to go with someone else?

My FI and I met at the newspaper where we work, which happens to be the same newspaper my parents met at 35 years ago. To make it even weirder my FI sat in my dad’s desk. Turns out our reception is in an old newspaper building. Embracing the coincidences we are naming our tables after newspapers we’ve worked at or of newspapers in the towns our guest are from. I’m trying to come up with an innovative escort card that ties into this: I’ve thought of maybe making mini newspapers. I’d love to find mini honor boxes. Any ideas? Or thoughts on where I could find things to tie in?

@Sarah: I am NOT a pro, but saw this question and thought I’d lend a hand. Run out to a craft store and get a scorer. You can get a hand held one, or for a straighter line get a basic paper cutter and a scorer blade that you can “pop” in. just line up your paper and score!

Wedding Processionals!

I need some advice as to how to setup the wedding processional order.

My Parents will be walking me down the aisle, so no need to dwell on them.

But the FI is another question
His parents are divorced but still friendly.
The FMIL remarried, the FFIL did not.
The FMIL wants to be escorted down the aisle by my FI.
I want to have the groomsmen walk down the aisle to their own song.

How can I incoporate both of those requirements (mother and groomsmen)

More of a general question - if a bride comes to you and literally has no idea what she wants, or maybe just a few guidelines, is that annoying to you, or freeing? Do you prefer brides who have a very specific idea of what they want?

Videographer: What songs would you recommend for the wedding video (not SDE)…like the different parts:

-girls/guys getting ready (with possibly a little bit of a rockish vibe)

-ceremony

-outside photoshoot

-reception entrance

-reception

-first dance that transitions into parent dance w/ mother/son & father/daughter

-reception exit

Makeup/Photography question: I have never found a foundation that I like and I don’t have any issues with how my skin looks. I love to wear make-up but I just wear eye make-up.

I also want AWESOME pictures of the wedding & want to look good in our HOT non-air conditioned outside venue.

Will wearing a foundation on the wedding day be necessary for great photos/looking good day of or can I skip foundation and just wear my fun eye make up? :)

I have a photography question. My girlfriends and I decided to get together to do our own boudoir photo shoot. We’ll be using my FI’s DSLR, I’m not a pro but I think I can manage. I wanted to get some tips as to what basic studio set-up and lighting equipment do you recommend (something wallet friendly)?

Thanks!!
