About Mrs. Bee @ Weddingbee PRO

My Name Is…

April 24th, 2009 @ 12:29 pm by Mrs. Bee @ Weddingbee PRO

Bee!

The vast majority of people call me by my last name, Kim.  I’m used to it, so it generally doesn’t bother me.  But even people that know me accidentally call me Kim from time to time.  I recently changed my email to read Kim, Bee instead of Bee Kim so that it would be clear Bee is my first name, but I still get called Kim 90% of the time.

I can’t really complain because my name was behind the entire branding concept for Weddingbee, and so far so good! :)

Do you have a name that people get wrong all the time?

Mrs. Cookie

People always spell my real first name wrong. They always leave the “e” off the end. It’s a pretty common first name, so you’d think people would know how to spell it. Yeah, not so much.

Clara

Yes, no matter how many times I tell people to their face that my name has 2 syllables they always shorten it to Claire. When I meet people it goes like this: My name is Clara. Claire? No Clara. Nice to meet you Claire. Then if people see my name in writing they pronounce Carla instead of Clara. Very rarely do people get my name right initially. I have to keep reminding people several times before they get it right.

My name is Kimberly but everyone shortens it to Kim. I prefer Kimberly but it’s no big deal.

Annie @ Marry You Me

I can’t believe it, but so many people will spell my name - Annie - as Anny or Anne or call me Andie. I thought everyone knew about the musical Annie, but apparently not. Lol.

Also, my maiden name is Kim, and I used to get called that all the time too.

same 2 problems as mrs. bee and clara. get called by last name all the time, and have to repeat my name all the time upon introduction.

for some reason it really irks me. i dont go around calling colleagues or acquaintances by their last name, id really appreciate it if they paid attention and didnt call me by mine! even if it IS a common first name >.< however, it doesn’t help that my work email address is lastname@xxxx.com ….

Jenilee

People get my name wrong all the time! It’s Jenilee, sounds just like it is spelled, but I get
Janelle
Janice
Danielle (why I have no idea)
Also since it is unusual when spelling it for someone on the phone I pause before giving my last name, therefore most of the time they think my last name is Lee. I have learned to just go with it. And when ordering takeout I usually use just Jen, and I have been called Ken and Stan at many a places.

Everyone always pronounces my last name wrong. But it does help me figure out if a solicitor is calling.

People do tend to have trouble with my last. Auer = Hour. We get Aver and Aner a LOT. I don’t really mind, though. I always, always spell it because I know it’ll be a problem if I don’t!

My name is “Madison” so I’ve never had a problem. There are so many things (namely geographical places) that have the name so its fine.
My FI on the other hand, has had so trouble. His name is Tristan, but I guess people just don’t believe him? He often gets called “Christian” or even “Kristen”.

Or one time, on the phone at work, he heard, “Tristan! That’s a girl’s name!!” People can be rude!

Tori

I am a Victoria, but everyone calls me Tori… But I DESPISE it when people call me Vicki.

I always thought wedding bee was like “knitting bee” or “spelling bee”… that is a group of people getting together to do one thing…

Miss Bruschetta

My first name is RARELY spelled or pronounced correctly — there’s a silent “t” at the end of it, and when we were in high school (but before we dated), Mr. Bruschetta mistakenly pronounced it while calling me in the hallway!

Well my first name is not hard to pronounce. . but apparently it IS hard to spell and get correct. My name is SARA spelled exactly like that, on a regular basis i get called,
Sally
Shara
Sam
Brooke(yeea. . . . . my thought exactly)
And once i actually had a teacher tell me i did not know how to spell my own name.
My last name one the other hand. . . . no one can ever say it OR pronounce it. So when asked for my first and last i go into an automatic spelling bee lol. “My name is Sara, S-A-R-A, Duquette, D-U-Q-U-E-T-T-E. and unfortunatley im not marrying into any easier of a name. . oh well lol
