Saturday night I went to the rehearsal for the wedding of my best friend from high school. I'm so happy for her and her husband and I wanted to share the gift I put together for them!
They are big world travelers–I believe he proposed in Thailand–and they are off to a fabulous honeymoon destination. Putting together a tote bag full of beach essentials is a great gift for anyone taking off for a tropical honeymoon. Even if sandy beaches aren't in your plans, this gift could also be adapted for a mom who takes her kids to the pool or a couple that loves to picnic.

From top left:
1. Swim coverup - this one is from Anthropologie
2. A chic sun hat to keep the rays off your delicate skin! I know I always need one…this one is from Forever 21.
3. Princess Lasertron flower hair elastic to keep your hair from blowing in your face.
4. Kiehl's body massage oil…hey, it's a honeymoon.
5. Some trendy flip flops. Graduate from the disposable foam ones and invest in a stylish pair that will last a while. These from American Eagle.
6. Lip balm with SPF. This sparkling orange soda-flavored version packs an spf of 15 and tastes as refreshing as the sea breeze feels.
7. Sunglasses, duh! I love these animal print wayfarers by Betsey Johnson.
8. Include two beach towels for the bride and groom. Extra large ones like these from Debenham's are ideal for the beach.
9. Sunblock of course. My friend and I use the spf 80 Water Babies stuff because we are pale-skinned monsters. I'll spare you the lecture.
10. Reading material–I chose Esquire for the groom and Real Simple for the bride. Include two copies of the magazine and buy them a gift subscription so they can look forward to it in the mail year-round.
11. Finally, a cute tote to pack it all in! This one by Mossimo is huge and well-priced.

I did this for my sister’s bridal shower - she had a honeymoon themed shower and I got her a tote bag, two bottles of sunscreen, two books she had asked for, two pairs of sunglasses (because inevitably she would either hate one pair or lose them), chapstick with spf, etc. She really appreciated it and still uses the tote all the time.
