The Modern Bride Trendsetter Awards dinner is this coming Monday, and I need your help deciding what to wear!
The ever fabulous Amy Salinger came over today with dresses, shoes, purses and jewelry for me to try on. The clothes and jewelry were all borrowed, and the clutches were either very inexpensive (under $40) or from Amy’s personal collection.

Jewelry by Kara Ross. I’m in love with all her stuff!
These are the pieces we ended up using for the contender outfits.
Ok how crazypinchme cool is this – Jenna Fischer aka Pam from The Office wore this exact Gustavo Cadile dress to the Oscars this year! It was fun to try on, but it was too long and maybe not right for this cocktail attire event. (I’m throwing a Mexican themed barbecue this weekend, hence the sombreros and party supplies in the background.)
How funny is it that we have similar jewelry and poses? Totally unplanned!

Gustavo Cadile’s dresses were all so gorgeous. Watch out for this rising star!
Ok here are the contenders!
Dress #1 - Gustavo Cadile dress w/ Kara Ross earrings, my J Crew pearl ring, my Nine West gold Accolia shoes, and Amy’s white clutch.
Dress #2 - Gustavo Cadile dress and Kara Ross earrings styled the same as the dress above.
Dress #3 - Thuy dress w/ Kara Ross earrings, black clutch, and Betsey Johnson shoes from DSW

I love all three dresses so I could really use your help! The first two have a very similar, classic feel. The second dress will probably photograph the most beautifully. The third dress is a lot more fun/fresh/funky/edgy, and I don’t think it photographed as beautiful as it is in real life. I wish I had taken a picture of the back of the third dress when I was wearing it, but it has a gorgeous open back if you can tell in the picture on the right.
I have thick skin, so please don’t spare the criticism! Is it too much boob? I swear they look bigger in the pictures than in real life because my head is cut off. Which one do you love or hate?

I first chose #2, then I really looked at number #1 again and I like it better on you. #1 Flatters your figure best. That green dress is hot!
I’m in the minority and love #3! I guess I just love minimalist and modern cuts. I also think you can really dress it up with the right accessories. A close second would be #1!
I love the texture of dress #1, and the neckline of dress #2 is really beautiful. Both would be gorgeous, but my vote is for dress #1. Love it!
Hahaha, I love that you are so straight-up! B/c I was for sure thinking, “Damn, that’s some boobage” with #1 + 2 — but not trashy, just, well, there
I can see why you might go for 3 — but no, I don’t think it photographs well at all (at least, not like here). My personal fave is #1 cuz it looks so classy + elegant — a little bridal-reminiscent, but not bride-bride! But for sure, #2 is some glitz + glam+ clearly eye-catching. And I’ll straight up say: boobs are like an accessory in #1, but almost the focal point of #2. Hee, if that’s not too much detail
But lucky you, and these are soo fab! (Darn if I don’t love those #3 shoes though, right? they’re like ZAM! hee)
you look great in all of them and dress #1 is vote.
Dress #1 is my favorite. I really like the top part of the dress and the shape looks good on you. As for dress #2, the rose detail and inner neckline put a lot of emphasis on your cleavage. Not necessarily a bad thing, but dress #1 seems more balanced out. Dress #3 is fun, but it’s just not as figure flattering as the other two.
I also love 1 and 2, but am not so wild about 3. Dress 1 is booby, but that’s not always a bad thing, and the dress is undeniably awesome. If you’re comfortable rocking 1, do it. If it were me, I’d probably feel a little more comfortable in 2, which is also beautiful.
I think I like #1. #3 looks a little too much like you’re going clubbing or something.
But you’re hott stuff in all the dresses, that’s for sure.
#1 for sure. Man if I had a chest like yours. I would wear #1 in a heartbeat!
I LOVE #2! Elegant, and it looks amazing on you.
I think you look better in that first dress than Jenna Fischer did, so she’s lucky you aren’t wearing it!
As for what you should wear, #1 hands down! I’m not digging the double straps on #2, it just seems a little sloppy to me like you are wearing a bikini top under and #3 isn’t as flattering on your great figure.
What is Mr. Bee’s fav?
oof, i have to be honest and say i dont like any of them, but if i had to pick i would choose #2. #1 just looks like you have a bunch of feathers haphazardly placed on the top, and #3 just isn’t flattering at all.
I just tried on both dresses for Mr. Bee. The second dress is much more stunning in person, but it’s just a bad photo above because of the close-up flash. The first dress is actually more revealing on the sides. Both #1 and #2 are gorgeous dresses though!
I LOVE # 2 on you! it really flatters your neckline & arms!
Which do you feel most comfortable in?
1 or 3. 2 looks like you’re wearing a bikini underneath it and I’m really anti-rose detail. 1 has a lot of boob, more than I’m comfortable with, but if YOU’RE cool with it, you can definitely pull it off. 3 is the most fashion forward, but least classic cocktail dress.
Number 2 - fresh, spring-y, and you look like the hot, modern woman that you are!
I like the top in Dress 1. It’s romantic, seems to square out your shoulders and gives you a small looking waist. The skirt looks like something I’d wear to the office. It’s sexy and professional looking.
Dress 2 seems a little more casual, maybe because of the bakini top type under top. I think I’d try repositining the bakini top part to flow along the same lines as the outer top part. Just take a couple of small safty pins and pin the top of the triangle where the string is attached to its nearest position under the over top. Hide the tie string down each of the back straps with a couple more safty pins. I think that will give a better, read less beach casual, look to your bust area and again square out the look of your shoulders. If you don’t want to pin try some double stick dress tape like the stars do. I love the look for the spun ribbon. It remeinds me of the young lamb coats I love so much. Is it still cold there? Will it be cold? Maybe you could find one of those coats to borrow.
You said cocktail event right. This dress feels more like a lunch dress by itslef.
Dress 3 feels like a clubbin dress to me. Doesn’t give you much shape, but looks comfy and frilly. Might be the black in the shoes and black cluch too givin me that vibe. Yer also showin some leg. YWO! haha
i may be the only one… but i like dress# 3 - it says trendsetter to me… maybe with hair down and wavy?
I love both 1 and 2–but I vote #2! Are those nine west shoes comfy? thinking of getting them for a wedding. Thanks!
Number 3’s really unique, but I think Number 2 photographs much better and looks both modern and classy.
I LOVE #1 and #2, but after what you said about #1 in the comments, I say for with #2. You look GORGEOUS!!! ![]()
I love the third dress—it is youthful and you are young!!!
Also—between numbers 1 and 2—I like number 1. I don’t think that the A-line skirt shape is as flattering on you as the pencil shape of the first one.

I love #1! #2 looks great too, but I think #1 fits the occasion better.
I love the long green dress! too bad you can’t shorten it… next choice is #2!!
#1 & #2 are gorgeous, however, I think #1 is a tad more appropriate for this event, it just looks flawless and perfect on you!

I like both #1 and #2, but after your comment you should wear what you’re most comfortable in.
#1 for sure! Elegant, classy, but still super hot! NOT #3!!

I absolutely love dress #1. It is funky, beautiful and classy. #2 is great also but there is a lot of boobie peeking through.
#1 is so classy and elegant - AND flattering! Beautiful : )
All the dresses are gorgeous, but I would choose #1. You look amazing in it! I like the other two, but I feel like #1 is just a little more elegant and special. Btw, you look fantastic!

#2 all the way! Love it! Super flattering, sophisticated, but still fun. Yay!
I really like #1 & 2 on you, you look HOT!!
I think that #1 is more sophisticated and classy than #2 though and I think you should rock that one! #2 draws too much attention to your boobies because of the layering of the fabric. IMHO.
P.S. Are you au naturale or do you have support for the ladies? I want mine to look like that!!
#1!! You look stunning in it! Although I like #2, I think #1 is more classy and slims your waist. In my opinion, it also seems to better fit the occasion- awards ceremony “glamorous” feel. Yet it also screams, “look at me, I’m hot!”. To help with the revealing sides, I would use dress tape.
Good luck with your final decision. I’m sure you will look great!! Congrats again, Mrs. Bee!
I really like #2!! And no it’s not too much cleavage, you look fabulous! Plus it goes great with the shoes. ![]()
#1 definitely! I think it’s the prettiest dress and the most flattering on you! You look great!
I love #1 - I think it’s really flattering on you, and a very pretty dress in general.

I love #2, but #1 might fit the occasion better. I would kill for your boobs btw ![]()
#1 or #2! You really look stunning in all three though!
Love the accessories! How fun!
oh got it… i thought the green one was #1…
in that case, i like #3. it is more modern and fun.
You can’t go wrong with either 1 or 2. I prefer 1 just slightly, but for some reason I think #2 might be more fun to wear ![]()
I think you should go with number 3! Its modern and classy. I think it is different and shows that you are a creative and youthful person. I love the shoes that go with that one too. It kinda ruffs it up and makes it look sexy. I hate number 2. The rose detail is really cheesy and I feel like your going to the homecoming dance in this one. I LOVE the green dress! I dont think it would be too fancy. If you put it with the right accesories you could make it look bohemian.

Any thing you choose looks hot!! I have to ask about those purple earrings- I am look for a pair just like that!!?? Do you know where they are from?
I like the Pam from the office dress the best. I know its not one of your options but I don’t think the other 3 dresses suit your skin tone at all. If I had to choose though out of the three it would be the first one, but maybe you should include a necklace or earrings (something close to the face) that has color other than gold or cream.
Dress #2 is my fave! Your boobies look like they were photoshopped/airbrushed in, like in a Victorias Secret catalog. Goooooood stuff!
dress 2!!! so flattering on your skin tone and just the amount of pretty and sexy =)
I love dress #1…very classy. JMO, but I think #2 is too much boob for the event, but you do look hot in it.
Definitely 1 or 2, and I would lean towards one. It has a professional edge to it, which would be perfect for this event!
i think dress #2 looks very flattering on you! and whoa…..the boobage?!!? please make sure you have tape to keep them babies inside.
I love #1. The top is pretty and feminine and the bottom is a bit professional, but it totally works.
#1 without question. It shows just enough cleavage without being over the top. Classic and elegant. The other two dresses have too much going on and it takes the focus away from you and draws too much attention to the dress itself.
Out of the 3 contenders, i like #1 the best. The flowers on top give it a hint of wedding flavor. Perfect match for the theme of the event. Goodness, the emerald dress is stunning too!
#1…very befitting the awards event. The other two are too casual.
I LOVE #2!! its edgy but very sophisicated, the color of the dress looks great with your skin! You have a great figure, show it off! Don’t get me wrong the first dress is really pretty but for an event def #2 hands down!! (i dislike #4)
Okay I am going against everyone and say 3. I think its very chic and hits you in all the right places.
Here is the link to where you can find the purple earrings:

And I’m not wearing a bra in any of the dresses, so I will be utilizing fashion tape!
I absolutely love the first dress! It is my favorite by far. I think it is flattering and perfect for a trendsetters awards dinner.
Mrs. Bee- I’m loving dress #1! It looks really fresh, glam and trendy but classy all at once. I feel like there’s just too much going on in dress #2, like it’s trying too hard or something. I like dress #3 a lot too, it’s got a bit more of an edge to it than dress #1, especially with the accessories you picked. So my preferences would be 1, then 3, then 2. Hope you’re having so much fun picking an outfit!!
I like dress #3, but not solo. I think you need to add a fun belt to show your figure off a little more.
I’d probably do a fun chain belt, add a ring and you can forget the bangles since you’ll be bedazzled in the middle ![]()
#1 Definitely. Even though you say it is too long, it looked great on you. The other dresses are more casual and not as elegant. Also, do you really want to show THAT much cleavage at this event? I am all for cleavage in different settings but this seems like a conservative corporate event, not a nightclub….
WHAT!?! You aren’t wearing a bra and your boobies look that good…wow Mr. Bee is a lucky man. ![]()
#1 and #2 are my favs. I think I would probably go with #1 if I were you! Very classic!
I think #2 has way too much boob. I like the hip-ness of #3. It’s fun and flirty and perfect for a trendsetter!
Dress #1 is my favorite of the 3, it is very classy yet still young ![]()
oops! I misread the post. I vote for the green dress that you said is out of the running. I honestly don’t like any of the others, even though you look hot in all of them….I am just not feeling any of them for this event.
Absolutely #1. I love the look of 2 also, but I think that 1 does more good things for your figure.
#2 looks like a high school prom-type dress and #3 is cute but looks like you’re heading out for a girls night out or something.
Wow those dresses are stunning! I like #1 and #2 the best. You cant go wrong with either one. I would choose depending on the weather of the day/evening of the event, If you are usually cold wear #1 but if sweat more and feel hotter then wear the #2.
1 or 2 im sure you will look HOT! Congrats!
Number 3! It’s so youthful & flirty. LOVE it. Your boobs look amaaazing.
Definitely #1: you slim and sophisticated! #3 looks like a mumu.
i like both 1 and 2, but you’re right, #2 will photograph better… and that’s what everyone will have to remember you by, so do #2!!

100% number 1. you are going to look soooo stunning!
can’t wait to see what you choose. xo
Since is a modern bride trendsetter awards I choose a modern attire and defenitly it’s #3 it’s really modern, your shoes are trendy and your legs look amazing!!! I would choose a different clutch color and to make it a little bit formal wear the hair up
Can’t wait to see you!!! Good luck!!
A late weigh in on this:
Number One is so beautiful and screams wedding-ness!
Number Two is just oh so May and spring like!
My heart lies with Dress One!
Have a such a wonderful time!!!!
I cannot believe how many responses there are to this!!! I am glad all of you want her to look fabulous:) As the stylist, I do have to say that number 2 is absolutely stunning in person, it really is spectacular. I think number one was a strong contender from the start and I would be proud to have Bee wear it!
my vote: Dress #2 - Gustavo Cadile dress and Kara Ross earrings styled the same as the dress above.
i think you should accessorize it w/ the rose wirely cuff pictured above (the one btw the purple stones and the pink cuff)
#1 is too top heavy and too busy. i get an unbalanced feeling looking at it, like you would topple over w/ all that chunky flowery/ruffly mess.
i don’t like how the awkward hem of #3 makes your thigh look muscular. workmanship here isn’t definitely not as impressive as #2.
i don’t like how the awkward hem of #3 makes your thigh look too muscular. workmanship here is definitely not as impressive as #2.
My question is completely off your post. Do you have a definition of “day-of” coordination? What is the basic scope of services. When the services starts and ends. I know each coordinator have different services but if you have anything that will information of a typical a day of planner. Any information is much appreciated.
Thank you

Definitely either #1 or #2. Number 1 makes your waist look super tiny and I think it gives you the best shape. I also really like the flared skirt of #2. Also, I’m a big cleavage fan, so while it’s a lot of boob, it looks good. Number 3 looks too “young” for you and in the pics your body language seems like you don’t feel as comfortable in it. Hope that helps! You’re gonna look fab either way!
