Weddingbee Winner: The Sewing

May 13th, 2009 @ 1:54 pm by Llubav

It's been a while since I last posted on my work. I have been a busy bee these days. I have orders coming in and pillows going out. My magic corner has turned into a little factory, and I may have to put my baby son to work soon. ;)

There are some lovely and exciting wedding themes I have the pleasure to design for, and I look forward to sharing the pillows and their stories with you soon!

So, I have some photos of the beginning stages of Miss Popcorn's vintage amusement park pillow!

Cutting two squares in pearl grey felt — front and back of pillow.

Design drawn on the felt square to see actual size. Notice it's in reverse to apply felt later. Drawings on paper are usually less than 4”.

Before the sewing process begins, I create a plan. It's important to know what is going to go down on the ground square first. Things will be layered on top of each other or in this case some things will need to look a bit farther away — this is a way to trick the eye. The ferris wheel goes down first, carousel pavilion second, sky trolley third, party flags fourth and the flower cluster will be last.

I will be posting more soon. Have a great day! xoxo
