Cynthia @ Bella Figura's Picture
Cynthia Converse, Syracuse, NY Vendor: Invitations Website: Bella Figura About Me: Bella Figura is a wind-powered, eco-friendly letterpress shop committed to the fine artisanship of letterpress printing and the environment. Along with our sister company, Smock, we print our wedding invitations and stationery on only the finest luxury cotton and bamboo papers to ensure the most beautiful of prints in sight and to the touch, while working tirelessly to do our little piece for the good of the earth. We are hopelessly in love with our abundant collection of cast iron presses, farmer's markets, fall in Upstate NY, creating beautiful heirlooms for our brides, businesses that do good for the world, calligraphy, spending time in nature, contributing to the greater letterpress community, our rambling studios in a converted warehouse turned artist's haven, and our two year old in residence. Turning invitations into art on paper while dedicating ourselves to the environment is not what we do, it's who we are.
About Cynthia @ Bella Figura

A couple of weeks ago, the Smock team packed up and headed to New York City for the National Stationery Show for what proved to be an incredibly fun and exciting week. As I shared with Weddingbee PRO readers in advance, we launched three new letterpress wedding invitation designs and our new custom Social Occasions album at the show and it was so rewarding for us to meet people from around the country, people we work with daily from afar but rarely have the opportunity to see in person. It was such fun for us!

Setting up Smock's 2009 National Stationery Show Booth

Once in New York, it was a lot of hard work pulling the booth together, but luckily we had co-owner Harold on the team to make sure everything went smoothly. And, of course, we couldn't leave Syracuse without making sure to bring along our #1 Smock team member, Jasper, who is always generous with his smiles and two year old charm.

Smock's Creative Director, Amy Graham Stigler, did an amazing job ensuring our booth was absolutely beautiful, and it was such a nice place to be during the show! Our Master Calligrapher, Debi Zeinert of The Blooming Quill, was with us offering beautiful hand calligraphy to booth visitors, which was a huge hit as people marveled over her amazing talent. Don't you just love amazing hand calligraphy?

We even had some fellow Weddingbee PRO visitors! Here you can see Debi working on calligraphy for Llubav, who is just as sweet as they come. And Bee came to visit too and naturally had to photograph the beautiful calligraphy Debi penned for her - somewhere there is an actual picture of she, Llubav and I that I'm sure one of us will share when it pops up! Over the course of our time in New York we also had the opportunity to meet the lovely ladies of Wiley Valentine and Hello!Lucky, which was really exciting, in addition to meeting countless other paper and letterpress lovers. Honestly, I'm not sure it gets any better than spending your day in a convention center that is literally abuzz with excitement and energy, full of people who are all anxious to discover the next great thing in stationery - we can't wait for next year!
