I love the wallpaper-like-pages !
It’s classic !

But…

Is it okay to tear & cut old books that you love to create a decor ?
I love to read and I keep my books as treasures.

It’s okay to tear and cut up old books…that you don’t love! The beauty of any of these projects is that the content of the book doesn’t really matter - it’s the visual impact of the printed word and slightly yellowed pages that makes them so great! We’d recommend just going to a garage sale or flea market and getting some old, inexpensive books — could be paper backs, old phone books, old dictionaries, you name it! And voila!

Sorry, I can’t agree. All because you don’t love it doesn’t mean someone else out there won’t.

It also doesn’t mean that it isn’t already a collectable or will be some time in the future.

Sure there are some “books” like phonebooks that are unlikely to be worth anything to anyone, but they aren’t really books. On the other hand, that old pulp fiction novel might be one of the last copies around. Dictionaries and Encylopedias also offer a facinating insight into the knowledge of the past.

If you want the look, may I suggest photocopying?

Hello ~ I’d like to thank you for featuring one of my wreaths ~ I’m honored!

I’d also like to set you readers’ minds at ease. I absolutely LOVE books, old books in particular. I have hundreds of them.
The books I use for my wreaths are in disrepair, falling apart, missing pages, torn pages, lots of scribbles and writing inside, etc. Most of them are purchased from junk stores where they would be trashed later because of their sad state.

Thanks again for the feature ~ all of the designs shown are outstanding!
