Several Saturdays ago, we threw my sister a surprise bridal shower. It has been months in the making with my mom and I busy behind the scenes, including multiple secret trips to Portland, Maine {where I am from, where my parents and sister live, and where the shower was}.
My sister's July wedding colors are black, white, pink, and green. The wedding does not have a theme, but elements Jess would like to harmoniously combine including hydrangeas, lighthouses, and…peacock feathers -all with a vintage twist. The peacock feathers will come into play for the wedding invitation and reception decor, but for now we focused on hydrangeas for the invitations and lighthouses for the centerpieces for the bridal shower. The invitations were letterpress in a fabulously bright pink on fluorescent white Lettra paper with coordinating envelopes. I knew her fiance would not want pink envelopes for the wedding invitation so now was my chance to get girlie. ![]()
After two months of keeping these a secret from Jess, I was finally able to show them to her and she loved them {and understands why I did not want to use hydrangeas on her wedding invitation}!

As I mentioned, Jess has various elements involved in her wedding. My mom and I focused on hydrangeas and lighthouses for her shower using pinks and greens. We incorporated her other colors of black and white through the table linens and napkins.
My mom found the white lighthouse tea light holders and placed them on a bright pink place mat, surrounded by smaller tea lights. Each table also had a baby photo of my sister for the guest's entertainment. My mom spent many nights making chocolate lighthouses which she packaged in small cellophane bags and tied with pink ribbon for favors. I letterpress-printed small folded cards with a pink rose and tied those with pink ribbon for guests to also take home as favors. Each table had a small plate of shell-shaped chocolates for guests to nibble on during the shower.

For the head table {where my sister & all the bridesmaids sat}, my mom had my sister's florist create a gorgeous centerpiece which included peonies, gerber daisies, orchids, bells of Ireland, hydrangeas, and roses. This was just a little sneak peek of what her wedding flowers will look like. I made the paper rosettes decorations and hung them in front of the head table as well as on the wall behind the mountain of gifts.
Of course, one of our favorite parts {& the one that took the longest to make} were the tissue paper pom-poms. I hung them along the wall of windows and above the head table. I hung them fairly close to the ceiling, so as not to block the magnificent view of Portland Headlight. We wondered what we were going to do with them after the shower, and I decided to give them away to any of the guests, many of whom were little cousins, to do what they pleased. Jess took home a few and the rest will go in my studio!

BEAUTIFUL!! I love the overall feel. Would you mind telling me where you got those lighthouse lanterns in the middle of the tables? My wedding is a preppy nautical theme and Ive been looking for SOMETHING extra - those are PERFECT!
