I wanted to showcase some of the images brides have sent my way after we work on a piece or two… or nine, for their wedding day. So here we go; let's kick this week off in style.
Heather and I were able to work together to make these sweet and unique pieces for her wedding back in the spring. She ordered her flower and the boutonnières from the impressive Myra of Twigs and Honey and the flower girl's and bridesmaid's pieces from your truly. I showed these pieces previously, but it's always so special to see the creations in action. ![]()
Leo Patrone photographed this wedding and, as always, did a spectacular job. For more images of the wedding you can view them on Leo's blog or over at Green Wedding shoes, who spoke with Heather and got a bit of insight on the day.

This is part 2 of the post “What's Important, What's Not” from the Real Groom series. Once again, I give you our groom, the amazingly generous and kind, Danny Lai.

Obligatory face time - Do not feel obligated to obey all of the age-old formalities and wedding traditions. Grumpy relatives don't have to be seated at your table if all they'll do is complain and ask about when you'll have kids. It is your wedding, and you should make sure you get to see the people you've been looking forward to seeing.
One of my biggest regrets was not keeping track of the people I wanted to see, and not realizing that they had already left until the end of the evening. Continuously make the rounds, and don't spend too much time talking to people you see all the time. This is the one time when everyone in your life is within ear shot, and when everyone wants to see and talk to you. Take advantage of this opportunity, and connect with the people you rarely get to see.
Pictures taken with everyone - There will be lots and lots of cameras at your wedding, and hardly a single detail will be missed. Your friends will send you the pictures that they took, you'll have your wedding photographer's photos, and between the thousands of pictures you sort through, you will have photographic evidence of everyone who attended your wedding. Why waste precious time during the cocktail hour or reception rounding everyone up so that you can get a posed photo of everyone? A much more meaningful memento would be a photo collage showing candids of everyone at your wedding. After the wedding, when time is less of the essence, you can take your time printing the photos and assembling your collage.

Rich and I started receiving seed and bulb catalogs in January. Yes. We get them in the mail each winter and pour over them saying “ooooh pretty!” and “ahhhh we need those!” We have made the decision to grown our own wedding flowers in our backyard garden, as well as Rich's parent's massive backyard in Massachusetts. We need to do some further zone research to see if the flowers we want for our wedding will last until late summer to early fall in my parent's backyard in Maine…which I suspect they will as evident from the above photo which I took in their backyard late last summer. My mom's zinnias were amazing!
As lovers of pretty much every flower on earth, we do have some favorites that we are also successful at growing and they are as follows:

Just the other day I was singing the praises of consumable wedding favors. Then, I found these Oreo truffles made with Oreo cookies. Wouldn't these make divine DIY wedding favors? Place them in a lovely box with ribbon and presto - your guests will love you. I discovered them on Whismy Love, and I've been dying to make some of my own. I enjoyed the step-by-step photo tutorial on Whimsy Love (especially the Oreo truffle smile photo). Check it out. The recipe is from Recipeazzar.
All you need is:
Here's a trailer for a wedding we filmed on January 26 of last year. The ceremony was at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Kyle, Texas, followed by the reception at Creekside Pavillion in Driftwood. Jamie and Anthony had such a beautiful wedding! The weather was so perfect. I love winter weddings in Texas! ![]()

I am noticing a sprouting of new artisanal ice cream shops popping up, and I am definitely loving it. It seems they are the new cupcake boutique. Here are a few of my favorites I am dying to try…

Hi Hive! I'm Elana, a very lucky intern at Weddingbee! Last Wednesday, I was lucky enough to attend the fashion show for “Operation Dream Dress”, hosted by Brides Magazine
. Out of hundreds of entries, just five budding designers were selected to have their dresses walked down a runway in front of a fantastic panel of judges with the hopes of having their dress selected for the front cover of Bride's Magazine! The theme for the designs was “visionary romance”. The host was Millie Martini Bratten, the Editor in Chief of Brides Magazine. I tried to contain my excitement when the panel entered the room. The panel included:

Ever wonder how… to keep fully wrapped bouquet stems hydrated?
*Disclaimer: Sorry if this post seems a little risque! I'm trying to be technical. Thank you to my assistant Shana for sharing this amazing little trick with me!
I'm about to share with you all a little florist secret- shh! Don't tell anyone I told you this! ![]()
Take for example this stunning bouquet by Karen Tran via Away Soiree:

Notice that the satin ribbon wrap fully covers the stems, even at the bottom of the bouquet, allowing for a luxe, tailored look.
Since the bridal bouquet is the star of all wedding flowers, it's crucial that the flowers have a supply of water until the last possible second to keep blooms fresh. I usually don't do full bouquet wraps for this reason. I feel more secure when I deliver the bouquets in a vase with water so I know the thirsty stems are drinking and are ready for a full day of wedding action. But there is a way to keep fully covered stems hydrated. Don't giggle please. Condoms.

We absolutely love vintage clothing and vintage dresses in particular. Timeless Vixen Vintage (found via Snippet & Ink - Merry Go Round inspiration board) has not only an amazing selection of gorgeous dresses, but remarkably, many of them are in reasonable sizes as well! How fabulous would these dresses be for bridemaids?
Megan and Evan met their freshman year at the University of Vermont, and started dating soon after. They were engaged at Orrs Island and returned from NYC, where they are living now, for an outdoor wedding at the Harpswell Inn. It was a classic New England summer day, complete with plenty of black flies to go around for all! Whitney did a fantastic job capturing the essence of the day.
Love this simple bedroom shot… especially the burned out lightbulb and drawn shade. Truly feels like we just happened upon this scene.
