Seriously what gets better than a beach cruiser, a soccer ball, some pin wheels, and the pier?? I think this shoot turned out great! We just cruised the pier and boardwalk and just shot away… no way to avoid the people so why not just include them, right?
It was really crowded. The red heart was carried through out the whole day to bring the story of the day together. Finished off the night with a cold one… mmmm.
We are just so excited to shoot the wedding in October. This couple is so fun I am sure the wedding will be a blast!
Shannon + Jason’s wedding was held at Kairos on June 7, 2008. This wedding was shot entirely in vintage super 8mm film. Having your wedding shot in super 8 will give it a unique and nostalgic feel. You can check out their wedding trailer here, and the highlights below.

Ok so as you may have seen the wedding I posted yesterday from Braedon of Braedon Photography. I was especially loving the venue, Marvimon, located in Los Angeles. I think it so hard to find a unique wedding location these days, and this one just has so much character and unique aspects that I am totally smitten. I love the brick walls, and urban vibe mixed with the fabulous outdoor area. How perfect! Also the retro vibe of the furnishings is so great.

Naomi is one of my best friends. We met our first year of college in New York, I was a hot mess, and she had it together. We are very much an odd couple, and we started out by naming our differences. But years pass, and you find that there is always one person who is really there for you, without prompting, who is automatically at your door with a bag of greasy food, the 6 hour long Pride and Prejudice, or cleaning supplies during every single life crisis. Over time, when you have a person like that in your life, they become family. Naomi is my sister, and she hates it when I photograph her. Jerk.
Naomi has just left New York to become an Officer of Law Enforcement in Los Angeles. She’s going to see what she’s made of and become a gun wielding, hand to hand defensive combat trained bad-ass. I’m so proud of her. (But of course, part of me just wants her to come back to New York!)
New York is a lonely place without my dear friend. My parting gift to her was a session for her puppy Carter, who I also love very much. To be truthful though, I thought Carter was an annoying little brat when I first met him. But he grows on you. Kind of like Naomi
.
This was my first ENTIRELY film session! The anxiety waiting for these to come back from the lab was unrelenting! Shot with the Contax 645, Fuji film.

Thank you to Linda at Soco Events for sharing these photos of our work from a May 2009 wedding!
The elegantly designed menus looked amazing with the table arrangements.

The escort cards were simple yet elegant, delightfully arranged near the bar area with this gorgeous floral arrangement.
…is for the birds! In more ways than one.

Oh! I had such a time goccoing on fabric this time around. I had not printed on fabric since January, and I think that is the key. It was cold. Very, very cold. When I printed these birds, it was hot. Very, very hot. The gocco fabric ink was acting like a liquid running everywhere, and the bird was printing like a blob. I certainly printed as many, if not more, duds than good ones. I still have a few more to go, but here is a photo of most of them.
Paige Hiller for Paige Hiller Photography gives great advice on formal photographs. Check out some of her work below or you can visit her website: Paige Hiller Photography
The dreaded formal photograph…
Formal photographs are traditionally thoses images that capture the bride and groom with immediate family and the wedding party. As a photographer, I like to start with the formal more traditional photograph and then see how far I can push the envelope and create some fun, out of the box images that are not what are traditionally expected from the formal photo session. Such as how high can the groom really jump, or the laughter between two best friends or look of joy on the nana’s face. There is so much you can do with a formal photograph. The sky’s the limit!
After watching this film a good thirty times each, we thought it would be a good time to add in some more details about Raj + Carolyn’s rather epic wedding.
We paid a visit to General Bead yesterday — for those of you not in the know, it’s a San Francisco institution and one of the best bead resources out there!
