Amy & John

July 30th, 2009 @ 3:31 pm by Emilie @ Emilie Inc. Photography

Bostonians Amy and John were married last year on the very lucky 8.8.08 at the very historic Old North Church (you know, where an illuminated lantern in the window signaled the British were coming by sea and thus started the American Revolutionary War?!) with a beautiful rooftop reception at the Taj overlooking Boston's Public Garden. Rain, like so many weddings this summer it seems, prevented us from taking advantage of their gorgeous setting for portraits.

Amy's beautiful orchids.

Private box pews were rented by families during the Revolution. The doors helped keep in the heat.

Guests heads are all that appear as looking toward the front of the church.

And a view looking down into the box pews from the balcony.

The minister talks about the challenges of married love during the ceremony.

amyjohn04

We literally had about 3 minutes outside after the ceremony before the rain started and we rushed to straighten up before portraits.

amyjohn05

Is this not the face of a proud groom?

amyjohn06

A television news crew was waiting for us when we arrived at the Taj, to interview the newlyweds on the significance of their 8.8.08 wedding (by Meredith).

amyjohn07

The roof of the Taj was a lovely setting for a 270-degree view of the city, shielded from the rain.

amyjohn08

Amy, studying philosophy, and John, studying chemistry, met in college. Many comments were made about how perfect this unlikely match works. Their tables were named to reflect their different viewpoints.

Here was Amy's reaction to one such comment during a toast.

And the sweet couple during their first dance.

We wish you both the best of love and luck, tho it seems you have that one covered with your symbolic beginning on 8.8.08! Great to see Cathleen and Jeff, too (and congrats on your new house!)!

I’ve never seen a church like that before, I love how you captured all the guests in their boxes!

Beautiful wedding. Love the flowers. The box pews seem a little ….unusual…?

I ADORE the Old North church. I’ll never forget visiting it on a family vacation many years ago. If i was in Boston it would be my only choice for an indoor ceremony location
