RSVPs Go Eco

August 6th, 2009 @ 9:24 am by Cynthia @ Bella Figura

In the last few months, we’ve printed letterpress wedding invitations for several couples with a somewhat unusual request - letterpress printing RSVP information on the outer envelope flap in lieu of a return address. It’s always interesting (and fun!) to see trends in wedding invitations develop and this is one I have to admit that I love! Not only is it more eco-friendly, but it’s also a great idea for any couple looking to shave a few bucks off their invitation costs. Eco-friendly and wallet-friendly? Sign me up! It’s such an easy and simple way to make an impact on the amount of paper you’re using, but it also saves money on the cost of the reply card/postcard and postage. Not convinced? Check out these that we’ve recently printed, they are just as chic as a traditional reply card -

Is anyone considering a unique approach to requesting RSVPs? I’d love to hear your ideas! :-)

Is that on the outer envelope? Makes me a little nervous about security/privacy if it is! But a great idea nonetheless :-)

I don’t think I’d be bothered to put a website on the outer envelope. After all, a return address already has your name and address! I think it looks great, but I don’t care for the phrasing in the first one. I much prefer the second one.

Ours was phrased as “In consideration of natural resources, please reply via…” The less-internet savvy among the guests called, while on the website RSVPs we got quite a few compliments about our “green-ness.” And, to be fair, ours was on the bottom of the actual invite, not on the envelope.

I like the idea but I would be afraid people wouldn’t even look at the back of the envelope. I do like the idea at the bottom of the invite though :) Very cool! I’ve also seen where people print on both sides of cardstock so instead of four separate pieces they only have two! Not sure if letterpress can do this, but regular printing you can of course.

I would be a little hesitant to do this on the outerflap as well, unless my website had a passcode that was listed elsewhere!

I really like that!! We are doing RSVP postcards - Attached to the invitation, so they can tear and sent back, as a way to save paper :)

I really like the being more “green” trend :) totally in!

I love this idea, but most of our families aren’t computer-savvy (read: most do not even own a computer!). So, I worry that the older guests would get frustrated with a good deal of information being online and not offering at least a phone number to RSVP to. Personally, I would prefer to do it all online! I mean we are in 2009 people - get with the program! ;)

We put our host hotel information and request to RSVP through our website on one insert. The map was supposed to go on the back but that didn’t quite happen so we ended up with three pieces of paper. Oh well, we tried.
(And it ended up looking really good so I’m not complaining!)

hmm…I might not want to put this on the outside, but I would totally put it on the inside!
