Kelsie and Rejean

August 27th, 2009 @ 8:31 am by Emilie @ Emilie Inc. Photography

I became fast friends with Kelsie and Reg the moment we met. Having all grown up in New Hampshire, we were shocked to discover that my aunt was Reg’s high school English teacher and my cousin baby-sat for him! Such a small world. We stayed in close touch after our initial meeting, and since they live in Portland I have been lucky to get to know this pair (mostly around eating- Reg is an amazing cook!).

On their wedding day, therefore, I felt so much more like a guest than their photographer. I got choked up a number of times myself, and felt the weighty emotion of every minute of the day. Their wedding was one that was filled with such joy and a love that I cannot put into words. I can only share that witnessing in and being a part of their planning and wedding day inspired J and I to finally put pen to paper and start our own wedding plans!

Kelsie got ready in a suite at the Inn on Peaks.

What a gorgeous inn! It’s decorated with beautiful, bright Maine Cottage-like furniture.

Kelsie and Reg used rocks as their escort cards.

I love the expression of Kelsie’s father as he sees her for the first time!

Wyndee captured this adorable series of the ring bearer wanting in on the groomsmen’s toast!

The ceremony site, on the lawn of the Peaks Island House (across the street from the Inn on Peaks). Such a shame that the fog rolled in just before their nuptials. It’s hard to believe, but on a nice day you can see the Portland skyline from here. At least it didn’t rain!

After their first kiss, Reg gave Kelsie the sweetest smooch on her hand.

Married!

The super fun bridal party.

Kelsie kicked off her shoes for some beach portraits.

Aren’t they adorable?!

Under the pier. I love this one!

Simple.

And then time to get to their reception.

Dinner was tented on the grounds of the Inn.

The reception was a fantastic party! It was the first time I had heard Mirage perform and they were wonderful. Definitely check them out if you are looking for talented, fun live music!
kelsie_016
I always try and anticipate when guests are going to hit the floor and do my best to get in close. But this time I got kicked in the shins while taking this picture, hard enough to leave a bruise! Ooops!
kelsie_017
My dear Kelsie and Reg: I am so honored to know you and am so proud of you both! A hundred thousand thank you’s for selecting me to be your wedding photographer and more importantly, my friend. J and I love you both!

And Kelsie sent along an image that one of her guests had taken of me shooting during the ceremony.

Wow what a great venue! The wedding looks so intimate and focused on the couple and yet cools and fun. Great photos think you’ve captured it gorgeously!

I think the fog rolling in created a cool, moody look. Love it!

Yes! And this couple became fast friends, and actually were the ones who came to caterer our St John wedding in April!
