It’s time to reveal hair and makeup tips for one of our four my KPW photo shoots that we had so much fun doing back on August 19 in Portsmouth, NH. Not only was it a great time to spend the day with some of our fantastic vendors, but we learned quite a bit, as well!
Here are just some of the details about our 2pm shoot. More to come about the story behind the photography, the choice of dress, and the flowers created by Apotheca Flower Shoppe.

Time of Shoot: 2:00pm
Bride: Kate
Hair: Hair that Moves - Lena Hartford
Makeup: Joya beauty - Joanne McDonough
Photographer: Claris Photography
Accessories: Occasions Bridal and Tuxedos
Location: selected urban areas in Portsmouth
Kate’s shoot was at 2:00 in the afternoon just like many day ceremonies are, and the team wanted to give Kate a mod look during the day since her location was an urban setting. With the right techniques and careful thought of makeup, hair, dress, and flowers, the mod look pulled together just the right way for a day wedding. Here’s how the team handled hair and makeup!
Well, after some pretty busy work weeks I found myself with a free weekend night (a rare thing for me) and so some friends and I planned a last minute summer BBQ. We all love good food so instead of buying in lots of stuff we all brought dishes…it was so much fun! I made a total of four things with the help of my friend Kate. I tried a new recipe from Food & Wine magazine and absolutely loved it. The recipe is from Sue Zemanick, who was voted “Best New Chef” by Food & Wine magazine last year. The recipe was Chile-Lime Crab Salad with Tomato and Avocado. I highly recommend trying it out and not skimping on the quality of the ingredients. This salad is so fresh and tasty, but must have top quality ingredients for you to get the full experience.

Here is a Lana save the date we recently did in raspberry + hot chocolate inks. Printed on 100% recycled paper!!

Since we launched the Princess Lasertron Felt Flower Bouquet Kits last May, we blew our goal of selling 50 kits in 2009 out of the water in the first two months. As readers and customers began sending me photos of their finished creations, I started the Princess Lasertron photo pool on Flickr for everyone to share photos of their creations and inspire each other.
Here’s a look at some of the great projects that you have all shared in the Flickr pool….

A summer wedding in Oregon Vineyard. Can you taste the wine now? These invitations came out lovely…just lovely! Sometimes I print an invitation suite and run into a few bumps, others print perfectly. These printed perfectly. I think it was a reflection of the whole process. Maggie is a book designer {& cook!}, and we decided early on in the design process that I would provide her with the imagery & feedback {& of course, the printing} while she would do the typesetting and layout. Included in the suite was an invitation, rsvp, map of the area, and an invitation to the rehearsal dinner. Everything was printed with a deep navy ink on the lovely textured luxe cream stock with luxe frost envelopes. I do enjoy these types of collaborations so much. Thanks, Maggie!
I became fast friends with Kelsie and Reg the moment we met. Having all grown up in New Hampshire, we were shocked to discover that my aunt was Reg’s high school English teacher and my cousin baby-sat for him! Such a small world. We stayed in close touch after our initial meeting, and since they live in Portland I have been lucky to get to know this pair (mostly around eating- Reg is an amazing cook!).
On their wedding day, therefore, I felt so much more like a guest than their photographer. I got choked up a number of times myself, and felt the weighty emotion of every minute of the day. Their wedding was one that was filled with such joy and a love that I cannot put into words. I can only share that witnessing in and being a part of their planning and wedding day inspired J and I to finally put pen to paper and start our own wedding plans!
Kelsie got ready in a suite at the Inn on Peaks.

Thank you to Catherine + Hendra for sharing their wonderful wedding in Oakland, CA with us. The sde timeline certainly was more challenging than most but when the dust settled and we had this to share, it couldn’t be more worth it.
A big thanks to Leslie Campbell of Let’s celebrate for making the sde not only possible, but also much much better because of her efforts.
-P.
Your work really exceeded our (already high) expectations, and I can honestly say the SDE saved our wedding reception. There were so many things that went wrong that night (we were scammed by the band company- we didn’t get the band we booked, and they substituted them with one of much lower quality without our consent…long story). I was so disappointed and almost gave up that night, but thanks to your SDE, not only did it save the reception, it also showed me what is important about this whole wedding.
The story line in the SDE was so sweet and amazing, I realized this wedding was not about the band, food, tablecloth or cake. It is about me and Hendra. It is about our love. Oh, I LOVEEEDDDD how you put my parents at the end of SDE. I realized at that very second, that night was a gift from them. It was their acceptance of Hendra that made that night possible. And you captured it PERFECTLY in the SDE. Patrick, I cannot thank you enough for that. Right after the SDE I couldn’t care less about anything else. I was so happy I married Hendra and that both our families accepted each other. That is what really matters. Thank you thank you thank you.
Best regard,
Mr. & Mrs. Christianus

So my ice cream addiction continues and my love affair with David Lebovitz’s book, “The Perfect Scoop“, keeps getting stronger and stronger. I tried out these two new recipes for a cooking class that I taught. I thought I’d wet your appetite by posting these two delicious recipes. I wanted to try one recipe that was rich and sinful and another recipe that was fruity and lighter, so my choices were “Chocolate-Peanut Butter Ice Cream” and “Apricot-Pistachio Ice Cream”. Both of these in my opinion were winners. Hands down everyone was more obsessed with trying to get a taste of the Chocolate-Peanut Butter one, but can you blame them…just hearing the title makes me want to make another pint. However to be fair, I thought that the Apricot-Pistachio was quite yummy too. If you are an apricot lover then this one would be a huge winner for you! So enough chattering…here are the recipes!
