Sonoma Luncheon

September 29th, 2009 @ 4:34 pm by Wiley Valentine

We are huge fans of Silvana di Franco photography, so when she sent over this amazing wedding luncheon she recently shot, I was so excited to share. Of course it helps to have an amazingly talented photographer such as Silvana, however an utterly chic bride and groom doesn’t hurt either. The luncheon took place at the Harvest Moon Cafe in Sonoma, and they took care of the food and that amazing cake. I adore the simple yet amazingly gorgeous vibe this event had, and it shows that a luncheon reception can absolutely be fabulous and chic.

The outdoor reception with wildflower centerpieces was so perfect to complete the look. The decor and details were DIY by the bride. WOW! This is a completely different approach to DIY than what we are seeing so much of these days and I absolutely adore it! Very sophisticated yet still personal.

Kristy @ Momental Designs's Picture
Kristy Rice, Pennsylvania Vendor: Invitation Artist Website: Momental Designs About Me: I remember drawing by flashlight way past my bedtime as a young child – I never stopped. For me creating art is not an act but a lifestyle. I am passionate about creating moments on paper, my home, loving my hubby and believe you can never have too many fantastic handbags.
About Kristy @ Momental Designs

Nicole contacted me earlier this year after reading an interview I did for The Bride’s Cafe. She had a very special request and hoped I could help. Nicole envisioned a custom, hand-painted wedding certificate allowing space for each wedding guest to sign as witness to their marriage. She explained her color palette included bold jewel tones with a strong peacock theme throughout. Nicole planned to frame the final piece for display as a daily reminder of the day - no pressure!

momental_designs343

I created several sketches for Nicole before beginning work on the final piece. The artwork was completely composed free-hand. Each color was layered onto the delicately shimmering matte board as a backdrop. Admittedly I was a bit nervous about capturing the gentle grace of each peacock feather, but in the end I was relieved and pleased.

Thank you Nicole for entrusting me with the creation of this artistic heirloom!

Christa + Tim; Married!

September 29th, 2009 @ 12:28 pm by Punam Bean

Christa and Tim actually got spontaneously officially married a few months before the scheduled day. They won a free wedding at a pop up chapel in Brooklyn (no, no that one!), and made a mad dash of putting a surprise wedding together for all their friends. This was their other, preplanned, everyone knew they were getting married wedding. The details were phenomenal, as to be expected from Christa and her impeccable attention to detail. Also, I am kind of in love with Tim’s son, Oliver, who lives in England. There is nothing cuter than an already cute 10 year old in a bow tie with an English accent, calling things knickers and such. This wedding was so much fun, so entirely their personality, and Husbone and I felt right at home. The details were amazing, and I shot mucho film! Yay!

How cute are father and son matching Chucks!??

Courtney @ Flush Designs's Picture
Flush Designs, Pasadena Vendor: Invitations, Event & Floral Design, Photography Website: Flush Designs About Me: Flush Designs is run and owned by me, Courtney C. Keefe de Jauregui. It is all encompassing, from the custom & handmade invitations seen at my website, to full exploration in event styling and design, to flower arranging, to playing sidekick and second shooter to my husband's wedding photography. I am working on becoming a wedding "One stop shop". :) I am a graduate in fine art painting, but a self taught graphic designer. As I still needed to get my hands dirty, I started taking letterpress classes, thus becoming my new love. When I am not busy working (usually still in my pajamas) and telling myself to remember to buy a new chair (this one hurts), I am singing to my 3 cats and enjoying a cold pint with my husband at our favorite local Irish pub. Maybe it's in the reverse order. :)
About Courtney @ Flush Designs

As I mentioned in my last post, here was the sneak peek. Erin and I went to Maine to help style, arrange flowers for the reception, do the tablescapes and well… photograph our great friend’s wedding. We had a blast!! :) I wanted to share with you some photos. You can see the whole story of the days and more pics from the wedding and day after shoot we did over on our blog here and here. Some of the flowers were wild flowers pick around the property, with a others delivered the morning of from a local farmer. I had NO idea of what flowers I was going to be working with, but it turned out great.

I rummaged the land for fun pieces of bark to lay on the table too. I used old Ball jar lids as the tea light base, and burlap for the runners with a cross pattern of different fabrics and and extra flags (used for the bunting banners) as little placemats. Each table had a different metal letter on it that spelled out LOBSTER; so cute. The wedding was so much fun to style, attend, and photograph.

Happy Fall, Y’all

September 29th, 2009 @ 8:23 am by Chelsea Petaja @ Oh My Deer

Today is the first day of the year where it actually feels like Autumn. It’s perfect in Music City USA today–71 and sunny. Soon we’ll get to wear scarves, jackets in the morning and at night, sip cider on the front porch, and all the other things that I’m romanticizing about Fall.

This piece was one of my favorites that I was asked to make for a Seattle, October wedding. The colors and textures seem to sum up the feelings of Fall; if it were a slice of pumpkin pie, I’d eat it up.

Happy Fall, y’all.

Kim @ Inspired Goodness's Picture
Kimberly Canale, Brooklyn, NY Vendor: Event Designer Website: Inspired Goodness About Me: From the moment the engagement ring was slipped onto my finger, I've been in love with all-things-wedding. I still get teary eyed reading proposal stories in magazines and love sneaking a peek at a bride and groom glancing at one another for the first time, as the ceremony is about to begin. With each of my clients, I get to know their personality, family background and hear the story of how they met and fell in love. Each piece becomes another element from which I use to build the overall vision for their wedding day. As the Creative Director at Inspired Goodness, my job is to create the various details that makes each of our weddings come to life. My work incorporates classic elements; engraving, hand calligraphy and vintage typography. Using a mix of found objects and flea market pieces lends a rich history to my work and challenges me to find creative ways to use mass-produced elements, each with a chic and timeless result. With every new client, I get to explore avenues I've yet to pass and love knowing that the next adventure is just around the corner!
About Kim @ Inspired Goodness

After 12 days of not posting, I feel like I really owe you some visual goodies. Hopefully this post does not disappoint!

A few weeks ago, Mrs. Bee asked me to help her decorate and plan a few aspects for an upcoming party she hosted in her West Village apartment. The meet-up was full of past and present WB bloggers, vendors and even a reader or two. Setup was a big group effort - lots of girls came early to help lend a hand.

Welcome to week two of my Muddy Brushes, Fresh Ideas post.  Read more about the inspiration and last week’s post here.

I am loving Maddy’s samples this week.  Jessica (my fantastic studio manager) and I collaborated on two versions illustrated in pen and ink of her bouquet flowers.  One focuses on an iris as the focal point and the other an anemone.   When Maddy first contacted me, she was completely enamored with a black and white look but wanted her wedding invitation design to have life and personality while avoiding an overly stuffy or rigid look.

momental_designs463

The sketchy, linear illustration style seems to fit Maddy’s vision perfectly.  I particularly like the long, graceful stems of each flower, how they almost cease to look like flower stems and more like simple sweeping lines pushing the eye upward towards each bloom.

About Amelia & Justin @ Amelia Lyon Photography

You saw their engagement session , now experience the wedding of Danah + Ahmad. The lovely couple was married on August 15th at The Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel . If we had only two words to describe this wedding, it would be "simply classic". With white as their only wedding color, Danah’s simple white dress, and Ahmad’s classic black suit, it was truly a breath of fresh air. Danah’s dress will definitely go down as one of the top ten wedding dresses we’ve ever laid eyes on, and Ahmad’s black suit was bold and timeless!
