This weeks featured filmmaker is Ray Roman of Ray Roman Films.

Ray has become well known around the country for his extraordinary camera work and cinematic storytelling.   I have been following Ray for the past year and am constantly amazed by the quality of his work.

I asked Ray to let me feature some of his work and to tell us a little bit about the couple, the event and how he approached the creation of this piece.

“When I was contacted by Mouzam, (who lives in Chicago), I could tell that cinematography was extremely important. When I told Mouzam that we were available for her wedding date, I think she dropped the phone from excitement. As passionate filmmakers, nothing gets us more excited than a bride that truly appreciates our work. So needless to say, I couldn’t wait to finally meet Mouzam and her fiance and get the show on the road. Plus, I was getting to travel to Chicago, which has amazing architecture and some breathtaking backdrops of the city’s skyline.

As the date got closer, I spoke with Mouzam about the timeline for the day. Mouzam made it clear that she and her fiance (Brent) were up for ANYTHING and really wanted to capture some amazing moments for the film (this had me even more excited). Anyways, when we finally arrived in Chicago, I was met by an absolutely gorgeous bride named “Mouzam” and a handsome groom named Brent.

Since this was a destination wedding for us, I knew we had to come up with some spectacular shots and what better place than LeSalle Street (where they shot scenes from the Batman movie). Once Mouzam and Brent were dressed, we all drove in separate limos to LeSalle Street, where we planned to have their “First Look” (and it was epic). Mouzam’s timeline for the wedding was so flexible, I couldn’t resist the temptation of belting out a “Same Day Edit”. There definitely was some added pressure to get this done before the end of the evening, but we were determined. After an amazing wedding ceremony and a Bollywood style reception, we rolled out the big screen and gave Mouzam & Brent the surprise of a lifetime. Just watching their reaction to the Same Day Edit made it all worthwhile, along with the tears around the room and roaring applause when it concluded.
