I love having the ability to infuse my own personal style into each of my bride's special day. When I'm not working, I enjoy traveling, hiking, reading and painting; but most of the time I don't consider calligraphy to be work at all!
About Laura @ Laura Hooper Calligraphy

Couples are often looking for interesting ways to showcase their personalities through their weddings, and having meaningful table names is one way to do just that! But what “themes” work best? Here is a list of recent ideas that our couples have come up with:

Movies
Places the couple has traveled
Places the couple wants to travel
Sports players
Sports teams
Icons (rather than names)
The word “love” in various languages
Various words in different languages (ie. Italian, Portuguese, or French)
Lakes and Fish (the groom was really into fishing)
Gemstones
Names of buildings at/around your college(s)
Local street names

{handmade invitations from Blue Magpie that match the adorable name tags up top}

Happy Planning!

Great suggestions! I haven’t revealed our table names yet to the hive, but can’t wait to do so. :-)

My FI and I are super big into the Texas Country Music scene, so we are using different dancehalls/venues around the state for our table names. Our escort cards are going to be shaped like tickets and say “First Name Last Name please join the party at Table Name”! I am super excited for our guests to see them!

We live in NYC but most of our friends and family live out West, and have only been out here to visit us. We named all of the tables after our favorite sites and neighborhoods in New York. We made table signs telling about the site and why it’s significant to us, and included a couple of pictures of the site! Making the signs was a lot of work but I love how they turned out!

We love to hike, so we’re planning to use photos of us at various state parks with each table being a different park. So excited! It’s very “us”.

We’re probably going to use authors and/ or philosophers… boyfriend is applying to get his phd in ethics and it’s pretty important to him!

We got married on the campus of our alma mater, so we named the tables after buildings on campus. My husband works for the University, so he got these great original sketches of each building to use on the table cards. It turned out awesome and was a nice touch.

Wow, these are great suggestions! I definitely want to do something different than just a table number, so now the wheels are turning to come up with something that really showcases our relationship. Thanks!

My husband and I met at a newspaper. We named all of the tables after newspapers where we had worked, had a byline in or had family connections/ our guests came from. Each table had a mock newspaper set up with the newspaper’s flag (name of the paper) on a sandwich board ala Ms. Cream Puff and a short “story” explaining why we picked it. Some guests went to every table to read them.
