I thought I would peek my head in at least once this week. Hi! I seem to be on a once a week posting schedule as of late. It has been a few weeks of a lot of work with little to show. It happens. But the next couple of weeks are going to be full of new invitation designs for some winter weddings, save the date designs for spring weddings, including my own save the date!

Namrata + Pavan: Married!

November 30th, 2009 @ 2:11 pm by Punam Bean

So much love and joy makes me feel like my job is so easy that I feel like I’m cheating. Namrata and Pavan’s day was so magical and beautiful, and so appropriately on Halloween, that the pictures pretty much took themselves. And how cool is it that they shut down a block of 12th Street in downtown Philly so the Barat processional could make it’s way down Market Street! So cool! Namrata and Pavan are beautiful and gorgeous. Sometimes I think, when my clients approach me and declare that they are not photogenic, it’s just that they’ve never really really been photographed. People who experience joy and love are always beautiful. It’s not cliche, it’s true!

Laura Hooper, Northridge, CA Vendor: Calligraphy Website: Laura Hooper Calligraphy About Me: I've been practicing the art of calligraphy since the age of 12 and nothing gives me more pleasure than waking up each morning knowing I get to do what I do each day. I love having the ability to infuse my own personal style into each of my bride's special day. When I'm not working, I enjoy traveling, hiking, reading and painting; but most of the time I don't consider calligraphy to be work at all!

Dartmouth Seating Chart

November 30th, 2009 @ 11:31 am by Laura @ Laura Hooper Calligraphy

We’ve been doing many seating charts lately and I have mentioned all of the sports-themed charts, but here is a different take with a college themed chart - “A Dartmouth Love Story.” My guess would be that a large majority of the wedding guests were a part of this Darmouth love story and probably loved the tie-in to the wedding!

jerryyoon's Picture
Jerry Yoon, San Francisco Vendor: Photographer Website: Jerry Yoon Photography About Me: Gone are the days of being stuck with boring wedding photography, where everyone and everything looks like the same old photographer took it. We're not here to please your mom. We want to rock your socks off with imagery that explodes off the page and makes you feel all fuzzy inside. We're inspired by who you are and not what others think you should be. Playwright, architect, nuclear scientist, tax man, dance machine, burly construction man, blog stalker. We take them all. Can't wait to jump into the pool together and make something your kindergarten teacher would be proud of!
About jerryyoon

Photography by Jerry and Ingrid

Page and Kevin’s wedding at the Foreign Cinema in San Francisco was a wedding that we’d love to shoot twice. It’s one of those weddings that was not overly produced, but had all the right touches that spoke volumes of their style. I think it was the first time that we saw a wedding guest teleconference into the reception, because she just had a baby hours before. I guess that’s a good enough excuse to miss your friend’s wedding. We had a hard time editing down this set, because there were so many awesome images. This venue and all the guests made us into happy photographers for the day.

From the top a fabulous thanksgiving dessert from my favorite Sunday Suppers. A honeyed fig and lavender crostata…yum!! An inspired feather place setting via Martha Stewart. A vintage biscuit label…LOVE! A thanksgiving greeting card via Wiley Valentine. The most divine table scape via 100 Layer Cake. A letterpress gratitude journal via Wiley Valentine. And of course this would not be complete without a little Amy Atlas thanksgiving dessert bar, photos by Allan Zepeda for Mel Barlow Photography. Be back Monday!

Creating Custom Cakes

November 25th, 2009 @ 12:14 pm by Melody @ Sweet and Saucy Shop

As a cake designer, I definitely tend to enjoy making high-end, fashion forward wedding cakes more than party cakes, but recently I have started being more selective with the party cake orders I have been taking and only choosing ones that I really feel I can put my own spin on them. I don’t want to copy any party cakes or pump out a million kids cakes a weekend (like a lot of bakeries do)… I went into this business to be a custom cake shop where my clients would have one-of-a-kind cakes that reflected their styles and types of events. This past year I have tried to start using a lot more new techniques at the shop and really utilize everyone’s talents on my team. I tend to want to do everything myself since I ran my business like that for almost 2 years, but these past few months I have been inspired and honored to work with people on my team. I try to push them harder and help them refine their talents and skills and I find they are doing the same for me. So before I show these fabulous photos I have to give a shout out to Susie, Louisa, Heather, Sara, Tim, Rosie, and Geoff!!! I have been so blessed with such a wonderful team and of course I could never do it without my sweet Mommy & Daddy… you’re the best parents a girl could ask for!

This first cake was actually for a a old school friend of mine. She contacted me a couple weeks ago as she was planning her mother’s 50th surprise birthday party and wanted a fashion forward cake. This cake was definitely a little challenging, but in the end I was quite happy with it.

November 25th, 2009 @ 12:13 pm by Megan @ Princess Lasertron

Today we get to find out if we’re having a little he or a little she. I can’t wait!

Until then, check out the latest little bridal order I made for LeeAnn. She’s one of my rare local brides here in Nebraska and I can’t wait to see how her blue/green/jewel-toned wedding comes together this weekend. I wish her and her fiance all the best!

This was a fun invite we did with the fabulous Black Ink in Pacific Palisades. The client chose the Ashley invitation from our Luxe album but chose a different flower for a more custom feel.

Happy tuesday, everyone!  Today I’m delighted to share with you the lovely wedding of Jeannine (aka Jella) & Matt. :) This wedding is extra special for many reasons… here are my top 3:

1) Jella and I are kindred spirits and share a fierce love for Hello Kitty and Tarina Tarantino.

2) Jella & Matt may be two of the biggest lakers fans ever (another shared love!).  You’ll see their adoration of the team’s purple, gold & white throughout their wedding. :)

3) This was the 2nd wedding that Anna flawlessly executed without me!

I was still involved throughout the planning process for this charming Santa Barbara wedding and Anna kept me in the loop throughout the wedding day via pics and texts sent from her blackberry. ;-)  Many thanks to the fun, sweet and truly talented Sarah K. Chen who captured these beautiful images!

left: jella’s beautiful amethyst jewelry (from tiffany & co.). right: a fun pop of color in her cole haan shoes.

All That Glitters…

November 24th, 2009 @ 3:32 pm by Chelsea Petaja @ Oh My Deer

…is gold!

For the most part, I’m a color-phobe. I love my grays, tans, browns and blacks. My one exception is shoes, shoes, shoes. So what if I own seven gray cardigans? When I wear a pair of gold heels with one of them, no one is bored by my love of a monochromatic pallet.

So in honor of too much gray–both in our closets and in the forecast–and the impending holidays, here’s a little toast to looking sassy, thanks to one of my favorite stores. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that none of these shoes are over $23! Come on now!

Sequin Holiday Pump, $22.80
Also comes in black.
