Kristy @ Momental Designs's Picture
Kristy Rice, Pennsylvania Vendor: Invitation Artist Website: Momental Designs About Me: I remember drawing by flashlight way past my bedtime as a young child – I never stopped. For me creating art is not an act but a lifestyle. I am passionate about creating moments on paper, my home, loving my hubby and believe you can never have too many fantastic handbags.
About Kristy @ Momental Designs

Every once in a while I connect with an artist’s creation. Whether it be a specific placement of a brushstroke or a mindful way a line is drawn - the smallest detail can spark a huge response. Discovering Betsy Dunlap’s artful calligraphy style elicited such a response. I was instantly captivated by the energy in her hand-drawn letters - how certain styles simply danced across the page. Officially introduced to Betsy’s work when the new Brooklyn Bride site was launched, I was hooked and a fan for life.

Our new bakery storefront will be up and running within the next two months!
About Melody @ Sweet and Saucy Shop

I have been wanting to post about this wedding for such a long time now, but had to wait until the fabulous spread came out in Utterly Engaged which is an amazing wedding resource for any bride or vendor. I was so happy to be featured in the online magazine and am glad I can share it with you now! This wedding had such an fabulous team behind it because Aaron & Barbara hand picked their wedding industry favorites, and since Aaron is a fabulous wedding photographer, they knew exactly who they wanted working on their wedding!

This was the first time I had the pleasure of working with Christina from Simply Modern Weddings and I was blown away with her attention to detail and overall design concept. She is not only talented, but one of the sweetest people ever! I was also lucky enough to have Gabriel Ryan Photography documenting the beautiful day. I love Gabriel & Carlie so much and am always overjoyed when I find out they are going to be shooting my desserts. Weddingbee PRO Kristin from The Treasured Petal matched the floral design perfectly with the Spanish Flamenco theme…love her! Those are just a few of the talented vendors at the wedding…definitely check out the end of the post to get the rest of the scoop! So without further ado here are the gorgeous photos!!!

Laura @ Laura Hooper Calligraphy's Picture
Laura Hooper, Northridge, CA Vendor: Calligraphy Website: Laura Hooper Calligraphy About Me: I've been practicing the art of calligraphy since the age of 12 and nothing gives me more pleasure than waking up each morning knowing I get to do what I do each day. I love having the ability to infuse my own personal style into each of my bride's special day. When I'm not working, I enjoy traveling, hiking, reading and painting; but most of the time I don't consider calligraphy to be work at all!
About Laura @ Laura Hooper Calligraphy

We were delighted to receive pictures of a recent wedding at Oheka Castle in New York! The couple used our compasses and made them personal by tying a note that read “we found each other now find table 2″ - so creative!

thetreasuredpetal's Picture
Kristin Brancaleone, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA Vendor: Floral Designer Website: The Treasured Petal About Me: The Treasured Petal is a reflection of my love for scrumptious flowers, yummy textures, colors, ribbons, and all the other girly splurges that being a florist allows me to enjoy on a daily basis. Although I don't discriminate when it comes to flowers, my two favorites would have to be cattleya orchids and gloriosa lilies, which I carried in a ginormous bouquet on my wedding day. When I'm not crafting wedding florals and consulting with brides, I am usually at the dog park with my dogs Pesto and Basil, cooking healthy vegan dinners, watching Seinfeld with my husband Joe, at Bible study, or scouring craigslist for antique furniture to fill up my new house. I am also kind of a home-body and really love sipping tea in my pajamas while working my way down my google reader blog list!

Amelia & Justin @ Amelia Lyon Photography's Picture
Amelia & Justin Lyon, Orange County Vendor: Photographer Website: Amelia Lyon Photography About Me: Hi, I am Amelia. I like to dance and sing my heart out in the car. My family has been in the wedding industry for 3 generations. Being the first photographer in the family, it has given me a unique perspective on how to keep things fresh and fun! Hello, I am Justin. I like to play Ping-Pong, and I too like to dance. Being a film and TV producer by trade, I am obsessed with finding the story that every image has to tell. Collectively we are wedding, portrait and music photographers. Now that we've started to tell you our story, why don't you let us capture yours?
About Amelia & Justin @ Amelia Lyon Photography

The last wedding we posted I had to shoot without Justin, now here's one that Justin had to shoot without me. This is a VERY rare occasion, as we try our best to be available together because that is how we like it best, but given the unusual circumstances, Justin did an amazing job and he had Jason Roger as a sidekick to help him out.

Patricia + Art were married on October 3rd. When editing this set of images I really fell in love with the old fashioned spanish theme. From Patricia's veil to the mariachi hat place cards, there was definitely a classic spanish feel to the entire day.

ohmydeer's Picture
Chelsea Petaja, Nashville Vendor: Hair Accessories Website: Oh My Deer! About Me: "Oh, My Deer!" was born out of a love for play-on-words and getting my hands dirty. I live in Music City USA in a little loft with brick walls, concrete floors and my husband. I teach Visual Arts at a Montessori school that grows organic vegetables and composts nearly everything. It satisfies the hippie in me. I make flowers and feathers for your hair that I hope make you feel beautiful. Sometimes I make drawings and invitations for your eyes. And then that leaves everything in between that I pretend to know how to do.
About ohmydeer
I know I've said it before, but I really do love seeing the ladies and gents that end up wearing the pieces we've worked on together.
Heather and Matie were married in Mexico last month, coming all the way from Canada to enjoy their stunning destination. The combination of pinks and black they chose for the boutonnieres, waist sash and hair flower brought a punch of edginess to the sand and surf. Oh, and the unidentified stripper in the last picture was pretty edgy, too. Ha!

Q: Now that we're having a baby, I need to get a decent camera! I have a little point and shoot now, but I think it's time to invest in a decent SLR. I'm not a professional, of course, so it doesn't have to be fancy –it just needs to take good pictures. Any suggestions? - Michelle

A: I get this question all.the.time. And to be perfectly honest, unless I'm lugging around bulky professional gear, I typically rely on my iPhone for quick images to upload to Twitter or Facebook. But if you have a little peanut in your family's future or perhaps just want to make some nice images from your honeymoon, purchasing a digital SLR is the way to go. You won't regret it.

SLR, by the way, stands for single-lens reflex. The biggest difference between a digital SLR and a point & shoot (hereafter referred to as p&s) is you can change the lens. And unlike a p&s camera that uses an LCD display, SLR cameras use a mirror to show the image that will be captured in a viewfinder (more thorough geek tech explanation found here). By manipulating the digital SLR's camera settings, you'll be able to capture action, photograph in low light, zoom in tight on those precious baby toes, and print frame-worthy quality enlargements as you see them in your camera's viewfinder.

In my humble opinion, there are only two brands of cameras worth looking into: Canon and Nikon. I learned how to shoot on a manual SLR Nikon in high school and switched to Canon in 2005 when they seemed to be leapfrogging Nikon on offering the best professional cameras and lenses. At this point, they're still neck & neck, both producing a consistently reliable quality product. You can't go wrong with either.

You can get a decent p&s camera for under $400. You'll need to invest a bit more to upgrade to a digital SLR, however, so don't let the prices shock you. According to Consumer Reports, these are the top rated consumer models for according to image quality, useful features, battery life and weight (listed in order of price):
