Virginia + John were married on June 27th at the Summit House in Fullerton. This day had been a long time coming. Virginia + John had originally booked us two years ago for June of 2008, but only a few days after our original meeting did I receive a message from these two sweet people that they wanted to postpone the wedding for another year because they wanted to finish school first. Of course I was more than happy to hold a date that far in advance for such a sweet couple; they were super personable and affable from the very beginning!
My favorite thing about this engagement session (besides working with Dani and Sean, of course) was the location. This sweet couple invited us over to their newly restored Craftsman home in LA. I've always been intrigued and drawn to Craftsman houses and would love to own one myself one day. I completely fell in love with the restoration Sean and Dani have done on their home. When discussing locations for their engagement session, they decided that it was important to include their home as they saw it as an important part of their lives right now. I really feel like engagement sessions work way better when my clients choose locations that have some sort significance to them and is in an environment that they are comfortable in.
We started the session off in their breakfast room, complete with an adorable ceramic monkey!
Wowzers, we loved this wedding from the moment it started until the moment it ended! Ever since their engagement session, we've grown to adore Nancy + Edward. They have been nothing but sweet and kind to us through every interaction that we've had!
Nancy + Edward were married on June 13. We started the day off at the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica for prep shots and the first glance, then headed over to the ceremony at the Bel Air Presbyterian Church, and last we enjoyed a gorgeously dressed reception at the Skirball Cultural Center Museum.
James + Shanti hired us to shoot their engagement photos before the head back to their roots at the end of this month to tie the knot in Indonesia. Since they hired us via email, the first time I met James + Shanti was on the day of our shoot, and this always makes me feel a little anxious because I never know what to expect. Well, any expectations that I had were exceeded by this sweet, quiet, and loving couple.
We first learned of Lara + Tim's existence when we received a sweet email from Lara inquiring about our wedding photography services. The thing that drew us first to them was the way that Lara described her and Tim's relationship. Simply put:
"We are a very comical and loving couple and want someone to capture our special day!"
We were delighted when they decided to hire us right after our initial consultation with them!
Lara + Tim invited us shoot their engagement session in Marina Del Rey. Since they are both avid sailors, it was a perfect location that put them in an environment that they were both comfortable and natural in. We started at the beach and then headed over to the marina where we went aboard a boat that Tim looks after and sails as well. Introducing Lara + Tim!
First off, Darlene + Jerrold were such a sweet couple to work with for their engagement session, and after getting to know them, it made their wedding day feel like a breeze! They were married on May 23rd in Laguna Niguel and had a beautiful reception that followed at The Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach.
While Justin made his way to the Hyatt Regency, I met up with Darlene at her parents' house for some prep shots. The first two things I got to capture were her amazing Christian Louboutin shoes, with the signature red sole, and an even more amazing Monique Lhuillier wedding dress!
Maria + Alvin are a sweet couple that found us all the way from San Francisco! In fact, we will be shooting their wedding at the beginning of August there. They made a trip down to SoCal and booked an engagement session with us, and since they were in San Diego we decided to shoot at Balboa Park. There is something that most photographers love about this location, for me I feel like it brings out my romantic side. I really felt like it fit Maria + Alvin very well.
I met Lin + Jonathan through their sweet wedding coordinator Carolyn Chen from The Special Day, Inc. I always feel so flattered when wedding coordinators refer me, because I realize the large amounts of vendors coordinators work with on a day-to-day basis and to be referred among the many is a huge deal in my eyes!
Lin + Jonathan were married on May 16 at The Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel. The weather was slightly overcast, but ended up working to our advantage. Justin and I had a great day with this sweet couple. We didn't really know what to expect since the couple had been traveling from China, and we weren't able to book an engagement session, so we were super happy with the day's turn-out at the end of the night. Here are some of the highlights from their wedding day:
The first time I met Alicia was back in September of 2006. She was the videographer for one of my client's weddings and saw our work on a slideshow we put on display at the reception. She grabbed one of our cards and kept it ever since then. I always get so excited to hear about how our clients find us; this particular situation was flattering since Alicia had kept our card for so long until it was her time to shine with her fiancé Joey. We shot their engagement session at the Irvine Park, and I had Jason Roger there by my side to help me out. Introducing Alicia + Joey engaged!
Nicole + Rich decided to tie the knot in Newport Beach at the Balboa Inn. We never really noticed this quaint hotel facing the ocean, but immediately fell in love with its romantic and intimate setting. What made the day even better was working with Nicole + Rich, they were so easy to photograph and ever since their engagement session we were happily looking forward to the wedding day!
We set up a first glance for Nicole + Rich and it was the perfect way to kick off such a rad day!
