I was so happy to see Yia and Sal’s wedding over at Amorology. I am a huge fan of Amorology, so having taken part in a wedding that she coordinated makes me sooo happy! I had the pleasure of designing all Yia and Sal’s paper products for them. They are such an awesome couple. I realized I had never posted the pics of their invitation. Oops! ![]()
I created a really simple and soft invite, with none other than my infamous swirl pattern and some fun blossoms.
I also did the menus and the little kraft paper tags for the escort/ favor boxes, and let her borrow my kraft table numbers which I am so happy about, as they turned out sooo cute! Our fantastic friend, Fontaine Su of Paloma Images took their beautiful wedding pics.
I will be doing the flowers for a magical wedding coming in late June. I wanted to do a mockup to make sure I could prepare the perfect recipe for all the centerpiece arrangements, bouquets, boutonnières, and ceremony set up, as it is a large wedding. The flowers will be a little wild, a little old world, but overall glamorous. The flowers need to look rich, but still organic, vintage, charming, and ultra sophisticated. The color scheme is to be silvery greens, dark burgundies, blacks, whites, but softened with dusty pinks and soft peaches.

As promised, here are some paper products!!! I just finished designing this save the date for my dearest friend. Their wedding is going to be in December in the beautiful setting of Whistler, British Columbia. She is a very elegant girl but wants a soft whimsical feel to her wedding. What better way to say soft and whimsical?! With some stitching of course.
And how could I resist a little berry love for a winter December wedding!?
This is double sided with their monogram on the front and the save the date on the back. Her colors are grey and eggplant, with of course some beautiful lavender brought in later. Grey is the hottest color right now, so I just can’t wait to see it all come together! I am excited to start designing the invite! Being that the Olympics are one month after her wedding, I sure hope there is not a bunch of construction going on!! Erin Hearts Court will be capturing her most beautiful day, which we are so excited to do!
These beauties were printed by no other then the wonderful company Spark! Ladies, if you are a DIY bride and designed your invites yourself but want to have them letterpress printed, Spark is the best. They are affordable and truly a pleasure to work with. Oops! Did I just promote DIY invites? What am I doing to my business?!
No worries –I still print on my own but some projects I like to send out.

We just finished shooting the fun wedding of Yuki and Doug this past Saturday. They had a traditional Catholic ceremony with an outdoor garden reception at the Heritage Museum of Costa Mesa. With full range of the historical houses and gorgeous orchards, we had a bunch of fun places to snap their portraits. Here is my favorite 15 pics; you can go to our photo blog to see a bunch more.
I also have 2 awesome invite suites and 1 save the date I just finished and will put them up this week. ![]()
We had such a blast this weekend shooting this wedding. It was gorgeous. The details were amazing, from an old world Spanish-style house for the ceremony, to the swanky Palm Springs Movie Colony Hotel reception turned fab pool party! Totally fun, stunning and amazing!
Here are just a few of my favorites. To see a ton (seriously like the whole wedding with a million details) more of the complete coverage go over to Erin Hearts Court. I must give a shout out to Megan over at La Partie Events for doing such a wonderful job with all the florals and set up! She even timed it so well, that we actually got to eat our whole meal! That never happens, and let me tell you it was soooo good!!! ![]()

Nothing say’s “I’m extra important” than an invitation lined with a colorful paper. A liner makes everything extra fun. Wouldn’t you agree?
Envelope to liner: “You complete me!”

Yes the power of the kraft…envelope that is. This is by far the number one choice by 95% of my clients. The softness, organic, and overall “non-wedding” look of this envelope is what draws my clients to choosing them as the very first impression and peek at the wedding. Her beauty is just her simplicity, especially when letterpress or a fabulous over the flap to the front design has embellished her. This envelope has graced many weddings from the shabby chic to the playful sophisticated. It has been used with soft and bright palettes alike. Can you resist? I think not!

Assembling the invitations can be the biggest challenge for a wedding couple. And my invitation designs are always a pain in the booty as I love suggesting fun elements like tea dying the paper to give it a vintage look, or stitching to add some fun texture. A lot of my brides fall head over heels in love with the ideas, but it is not in their budget to have me do all the assembly, and/or sometimes they feel that it would be too overwhelming to do it themselves. So for those couples that live in the greater Los Angeles area, I will offer a day of assembling where they can come over (with beer of course
) and I will do the assembly with them. We just turn it into an assembling party.
This past friday Brett and Bowen came over so we could do the final touches on their invitations. This included a little gluing of the backs to the invite and stitching all around the invite. Bowen brought her own sewing machine so we could both sew together. While we were sewing, her fiance Brett attached the little sealing stickers to their rsvps and cut all the twine for tying.. The rsvp is a fold over card with the address on the front, the response space on the back and on the inside is a place where the couple has asked all their guests to write down their favorite recipes. Really fun! The invitation is a 2 color letterpress – I will take pictures of the completed suite a bit later…
We’re also photographing their wedding and I’m doing the bouquets and boutonnieres for them — we have all now become great friends. We had a great time with a little pizza and beer and hopefully it gave them that fantastic feeling of completion! Although they still had to take them home and tie a little twine around them, stuff, lick, stamp and send but the major assembling was finished and nothing was sacrificed, as all the fun design ideas were accomplished with no stress or budget overload. Perfect.
I had my husband pick up the camera and document our little venture.
I love being asked to do table top designs from Emily at ONCE WED, it really gets my creative juices flowing. I get a budget of $200 to try and create a table that would give inspiration to all brides. I did all 3 of my recent tables, The Frida seen here, this Modern inspired table, and the next to come the Vintage Study {see sneak peek here}, with the base of a round table, white table clothe, basic dishes, white napkins or black napkins, all of which are the usual items given to brides at venues. I wanted to challenge myself to turn them into nothing short of fabulous. I usually end up going over the budget a smidgen but I made sure this table stayed right on target.
My inspiration for this table was based on the Movie “Breathless” by Jean Luc-Godard. I pictured roaming the streets of paris during the 60’s surrounded by the mid century modern lifestyle, stumbling upon a street fair, stopping by the local record shop, photographing the Eiffel tower, sitting in a cafe, and finishing the day with a martini at the local beatnik bar listening to poetry readings. I had to include balloons, black and white stripes, a vintage camera, some records, and of course candy cigarettes. I wanted the yellow to be very subtle so I used just some yellow freesia and imagine the martini glasses already filled with lemon drops when your guests sit down.
I tore strips of fabric to make runners for the table. The records are all gathered from thrift stores, and the vintage camera is my own… I added the hint of a Paris cafe by placing flowers in small espresso cups. I was trying to make the table a little more on the “girly” side so I added pink vintage style plates from Anthropologie, to soften up the static geometric shapes of the vases, from Ikea.
You can see the invitation I designed surrounding the theme here. The escort cards are tied to small 5 inch balloons for your guests to enjoy. Go over to ONCE WED and take a look at the table and her gorgeous website filled with inspiration. All photos are by my husband and myself.
So without further ado Breathless-The Modern Table Top….

I found this old WWII chest on the side of the road. It sits right at my front door and is what I use to take all {well, 90% of} my photos of my invitations and projects on. This little setup can provide the perfect spot for almost all my invitation designs. The rain has started to take its toll on it but I love it. Since most of my designs have a soft vintage feel and rustic organic charm, what better place to prop them up then on an old wooden chest filled with history! I usually add a few flowers or something that represents the theme of the invite. Ladies and gents -The Chest…
