Want to open a can of worms? Tell people you want a “no children wedding”. You'll get a few supporters, but others will secretly scorn you. Namely, the ones on your guest list who can't imagine leaving their little ones with a babysitter.
Having a kid-free wedding is one way to scale back the guest list for a small wedding, but be prepared for criticism. Judging by the comments on some bridal forums, there are some pretty strong opinions about kids and weddings. Some can't imagine why anyone wouldn't allow kids. They argue that it's anti-family not to invite children and that weddings are all about family. Others can't comprehend why anyone would want little ones underfoot at such an “adult” event.
We had kids at our wedding. Mind you, there were only three – but I wouldn't have had it any other way. That said, I understand why some couples opt for a “no children wedding”. Couples generally spend months orchestrating their weddings – not to mention saving for them. Along comes one tantrum throwing toddler, and “kaboom!” perfection is destroyed – especially if it happens during the vows.
Kids are unpredictable. They cry. They make messes. They bump into things and are known to stick their fingers into places that they shouldn't (e.g. cake, nose, you get the picture.) But oftentimes, they're also surprisingly well-behaved during special occasions and can add a lot to your big day.
If you are sure you want a “no children wedding”, how do you ensure that your adult guests won't bring their offspring?

My DIY wedding programs did not fit on one page (I'm a writer!). If I had a one page wedding program, I would have rolled it up and tied it with ribbon. I love the look of scroll DIY wedding programs. You can use any color paper you want, and the choices for ribbon are endless. Wouldn't they look lovely placed inside a wicker basket? An easy and pretty DIY wedding project!

One year ago, I was hunting for vintage cigarette machines on Ebay. I had big plans. I wanted to make my very own version of an “Art-o-mat” to distribute my wee paintings.

My current obsession is photography. I just recently fell in love with my Nikon D70. I've had it for more than four years, but never really understood the technical aspects of my camera. I finally decided it's time to learn, and my photos are improving immensely!
I'm so inspired by the work of other photographers. And one of them is Zena Holloway. Her work is so dreamy! Interestingly, Zena started out as a scuba diver before she made a career out of underwater photography. I am so captivated by these ethereal underwater scenes . Wouldn't it be incredible to do a wedding shoot like this?

My husband and I spent the morning digging in the dirt. We're making raised beds in our backyard to plant veggies and berry bushes. Hauling wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow of topsoil can cause a sudden craving for watermelon. Thankfully, I had some on hand.
Watermelon is fruit of the gods. There is nothing better than a cool piece of sweet watermelon after hours of manual, outdoor labour. Nothing better, except maybe a cold drink, served right out of a fresh watermelon!
When I stumbled on this DIY watermelon keg tutorial on evite.com, I couldn't help but think that this would be perfect for an outdoor wedding - or any outdoor party for that matter!

Does anyone use disposable cameras anymore? I hope not. Not when just about everyone has a digital camera.
The downfall of digital cameras is that they trap photos. How many photos do you have on your computer that you've never bothered to print? (I have thousands. Literally.)
And when it comes to weddings, you can bet that many of the photos that your snap-happy guests take during your wedding will never be shared. That's why you need a DIY Photo Download Station! All you need is a laptop, a card reader, and someone willing to man the station.
That's what Nikki, who hails from Calgary, Alberta, did at her May 2008 wedding. She and her groom didn't want any of their guests' photos getting away, so they set up their laptop at the reception and had Nikki's aunt man the “download station.”

Lanterns are a great way to decorate your wedding pews. They're simple, but in low light they create such a wonderful ambiance. Simply use ribbon to attach them to the wedding pews.
Here are a few pictures of lanterns adorning wedding pews.
