Some brides will not have any cocktail hour flowers and some brides will have more flowers here than at their ceremony. Typically your cocktail hour flower budget should be anywhere from 5%-15% of your total budget, depending on how many tables are out, how many bars you have, if there are any stationary hors d’oeuvres, and if your place card table is a part of our cocktail hour. Some venues allow brides to re-use the cocktail hour as a late night lounge for guests to get away from the music, so that might affect how much attention you’d like to spend in this area.
You should expect to spend about 5% - 15% of your flower budget on your cocktail hour flowers.
Here is a list of places you might want to include flowers in your cocktail hour:
Low-top tables for guest seating
High-top tables for guests standing and chatting, putting their drinks down, etc
Bar(s)
Stationary hors d’oeuvres table(s)
Place card table
Gift table
Guest book table
Bathrooms
You might also have lounge furniture, or a special photo booth area, and many of these items might be in your reception area. This just gives you a comprehensive list of your options as every venue is different and every bride’s vision is different as well.

It’s time to reveal hair and makeup tips for one of our four my KPW photo shoots that we had so much fun doing back on August 19 in Portsmouth, NH. Not only was it a great time to spend the day with some of our fantastic vendors, but we learned quite a bit, as well!

Kate’s shoot was at 2:00 in the afternoon just like many day ceremonies are, and the team wanted to give Kate a mod look during the day since her location was an urban setting. With the right techniques and careful thought of makeup, hair, dress, and flowers, the mod look pulled together just the right way for a day wedding. Here’s how the team handled hair and makeup!

There is a standard language that vendors in the wedding and special events industry use when discussing table layouts and ordering specialty linens for those tables. I thought it would be a good idea to share some insider secrets so you can understand what you need to order, how many people you should place at each table, which size tables fit how many guests, etc etc.
After creating our tutorial on making bouquets, we thought it might be helpful to show how to make a centerpiece. We are going to show two different types of centerpieces. The first is a very casual centerpiece, appropriate for a rehearsal dinner or relaxed reception. The second is a more compact and constructed centerpiece, for a more elegant or modern reception. First, start with all of your containers. Add any ribbons all at once to get the most consistency in design. Fill each container with water at this point as well.
The challenge with ceremony flowers is that they’re used for a very short amount of time in comparison to the rest of your reception flowers. Sometimes you can reuse your ceremony pieces at your reception, but some churches ask that your flowers remain at the ceremony as a donation. There are quite a few options to consider when designing your ceremony flowers:

From our previous post about flowers for your wedding, here is what you should expect to spend depending on your overall wedding budget:
$2,000.00-$2,500.00 8%-10% of an under 25k overall wedding budget (based on 25k)
$3,000.00-$3,750.00 8%-10% of a 25k-50k overall wedding budget (based on 37.5k)
$5,200.00-$6,500.00 8%-10% of a 50k-80k overall wedding budget (based on 65k)
$8,000.00-$10,000.00 8%-10% of an 80k and up overall wedding budget (based on 100k)
You should expect to spend about 10% on your ceremony flowers. That would break down to:
$200-$250.00 - under 25k overall wedding budget
$300-$375.00 - 25k-50k overall wedding budget
$520.00-$650.00 - 50k-80k overall wedding budget
$800-$1,000.00 - 80k and up overall wedding budget
