Leigh Miller, Coronado, CAVendor: PhotographerWebsite: Leigh Miller PhotographyAbout Me: People often ask me how I got my start in wedding photography. The truth is i fell into it. Almost by accident. But after my first wedding I was sold. I moved full force ahead. And within a year I went full-time leaving behind my life as a therapist and social worker. And the rest, as they say, is history. In November I celebrated my 3rd year of being a full-time photographer! Today, I feel so blessed to get to do something I love and to work with amazing couples all over the country and world! I have traveled to the Bahamas, Jamaica, all over Mexico and all the way to England to shoot weddings. I live in southern California with my husband, two sons, two really loud birds and a short, fat yellow lab named Mrs. Jones. All, at various times, make an appearance on my blog.
When Erin called me about shooting her wedding, I was thrilled for a number of reasons. One because I already knew Erin and knew what an awesome and fun person she is (I met her when I shot Mimi and Gabes wedding in 2006 at the Parker in Palm Springs) and two because she’s Erin Cole and I knew this would be one fabulous wedding. Erin has such a classy yet hip air about her. And luckily for all of us Mimi is now a wedding coordinator, Enjoy Celebrations and Occasions and together they put together one amazing evening! Not one to go with the ordinary, Erin had her wedding gown custom made for her by Rita Vineries of Rivini. It was so unique and elegant. She looked like she stepped out of bridal magazine. And the fabulous accessories from her own salon just topped everything off. I feel like I need an excuse to go out and do something fancy so I can get a necklace like the one Erin wore. Do you think I could have another wedding? (My husband would probably say no!) So without further delay, here are some of my favorite photos from Erin and Michael’s wedding day.

I’ve been gone for a bit but hopefully not forgotten. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and a great new years. I’ve been traveling ALL around since New Year’s Day visiting family in Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and Mississippi. It’s been fun but I think I’m going to need a vacation from my vacation when I return home next week if you know what I mean!
I’m cooking up lots of new blog posts to share but in the meantime I thought I would share an older engagement session but still one of my favorites, Kristen and Chad. I was so excited to shoot this engagement and wedding. Chad himself is a photographer and you might think Kristen would be used to the camera, but she was probably the shyest person I’ve ever photographed. It’s kind of ironic considering how beautiful Kristen is. I told her if I looked like her I would want someone to take my photo everyday - haha! Anyway we had a blast and I love the way Kristen and Chad are together and the way her shyness translated in the photographs. I wouldn’t have had it any other way!

I met Nari and Wyatt in Sierre Madre for their engagement session back in February. There was a little park not far from where they live and it had the coolest trees and scenery. I loved it. The whole time we were there I thought about the photos of my mom, uncle and grandparents from their family vacations in the 50s and 60s, and how this place reminded me of those old photos I have looked at all my life. So I processed these photos to have that same feel.
Nari and Wyatt are so awesome! Wyatt was a little nervous and said at first it was as bad as a trip to the dentist. By the end he was ready to write a testimonial for the blog saying it’s not so bad after you get used to it. Send that on anytime you’re ready Wyatt. I had a great time.

Shannon and Yossi had an amazing wedding at Kate Sessions Park in San Diego in April this year. If I haven’t said it lately, I love my job! I get the best couples. This wedding was so full of joy, I was so happy to be a part of it. Shannon and Yossi came all the way from New York City to get married in sunny San Diego surrounded by family and friends. So here are a few images from their day, including one of my all-time favorite ceremony shots ever! Guess which one. So congrats to Shannon and Yossi! Mazel tov!

I don’t even know where to start with a post about Colleen and Jimmy’s wedding. I had been looking forward to their wedding for over a year, since shooting their engagement photos at Coney Island last August after they won the engagement photo contest giveaway of 2007. If you go back and read those two posts I think you will see why they hold a special place in my heart. I felt like I knew them so well already and of course had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy’s family last summer. Over the past year Colleen and I had exchanged many, many emails about the wedding planning, the gown, the flowers, etc… To see it all come together was awesome.
And the wedding day was a blast. Fun. Funny at times (I could do an entire post on the limo ride over to the ceremony itself!). Emotional. Joyful. A few tears. A little bit of nervousness. Lots of friends and family, tons of hugs and kisses. Thank you both again for letting me be a part of your wedding. You both deserve only the best. Enjoy!

Christine, Reggie and I met up to shoot some engagement photos in June when I was in Sonoma for a wedding. Christine and Reggie are so fun, in love and awesome in front of the camera, and they had a great, great wedding. So on to the pics!

we average out to about a normal sized person… That’s what Audrey told me when I met David for the first time. He’s tall, she’s short, but they both are fun and we had a blast doing their engagement photos around downtown San Diego. See you guys SOON I can’t wait for the wedding! Read more…

are getting married and this is one person who couldn’t be happier! I have know Manuela for about 2 1/2 years; she has been a bridesmaid in 3 weddings I have photographed. All I have to say is get ready to fall in love. These two are irresistable.
Before I share more engagement photos, I want to revisit Manuela the bridesmaid. One thing I noticed about every wedding Manuela was in was that she was always right there. Always helping out, taking care of the bride, being a great friend. So I thought to go along with this post, I would share some images of her from Donna, Ramona, and Lavi’s wedding along with a letter I received from her about 2 years ago. It was truly for me the highest of compliments. I am beyond excited for Manuela and Eric. To be a part of their wedding. And to see Donna & Ben, Ramona & Darren and Lavi & John again in March 2009. Since getting married all of the couples have had daughters in the order they got married. Isn’t this what life’s all about! Read more…

I’m posting goobs of photos from Audrey and David’s wedding! I just couldn’t help myself. These two are just too cute. They were so fun to work with that day and have such great personalities, I knew the wedding day would be great too. Everything turned out perfectly! The weather was beautiful, the couple was laid back and happy, and friends and family just filled with excitement. Hope from Pink Papaya Events did a wonderful job with the event design. I loved the deep purples. So without further delay, here are some of my favorite photos from Audrey and David’s spectacular wedding day at the Darlington House in La Jolla.

Sarah and Mike were both just glowing on the wedding day! And so was everyone around them. The whole wedding was just buzzing with excitement, joy and love. It couldn’t have been more perfect! Rebecca Stone of Duet Weddings did a great, great job with everything. I love the comment that Sarah left on Rebecca’s blog, that every detail had a little of them in it. I’ve worked with some amazing wedding coordinators and I think the best ones truly have that gift and put so much of themselves into the wedding, as do the photographers. It just makes sense!
So here are some pics from the day and if you have some time, a slideshow. It’s so worth it! And here’s a link to Eucalyptus Lane because I think its one of the most unique and awesome venues in Southern California. Congrats again Sarah and Mike!!!
