My laptop started working again so that means I can edit pictures again yay! I owe you guys a lot of posts, but I thought I’d start out with the invitation for Preston Bailey’s recent 60th Birthday Bash because it was fabulous!

I had so much fun at the Modern Bride Trendsetter Awards dinner last night! The fantabulous Preston Bailey presented my award. Christian of Project Runway, Bethanny from The Real Housewives of New York, Kristin Davis from Sex and the City, and more were in attendance. And there were so many rockstar vendors in the wedding world that I finally got a chance to meet. More details to come!
The majority of you liked Dress #1, so that’s what I ended up wearing! Ai Sakai did my hair and makeup — I have to say that I loved my makeup, but I was completely and utterly in love with my hair! Thanks so much for transforming me Ai!

The Modern Bride Trendsetter Awards dinner is this coming Monday, and I need your help deciding what to wear!
The ever fabulous Amy Salinger came over today with dresses, shoes, purses and jewelry for me to try on. The clothes and jewelry were all borrowed, and the clutches were either very inexpensive (under $40) or from Amy’s personal collection.

Jewelry by Kara Ross. I’m in love with all her stuff!
I thought I’d share some details behind the Modern Bride photoshoot!
Remember how I did redid my workspace back in January? It was this photoshoot that was the impetus! When they said they wanted to shoot in the apartment that I just moved into, I knew I had to get cracking. Kim of Inspired Goodness (aka SIL Cupcake) did a fabulous job revamping my workspace!
I’ve been meeting a lot of wedding vendors lately, and they often tell me that they want to blog but don’t know how or what to blog about, or are having trouble finding their “voice”. I’m working sick from the sofa today so this may not be the best post, but here are some of my tips on finding your voice and becoming a better business blogger!
1) Blog, blog, and then blog some more. If you’re understandably uncomfortable launching a public blog having never blogged before, start a private business blog or even a personal blog, and write in it regularly. This is a great way to practice blogging and hone your voice. Getting good at blogging is all about practice. I’ve maintained a regular personal blog for over 6 years and if I go back and read some of my initial posts, I cringe because they’re so bad (they’ve long since been privatized
). But I blogged every day, I read other blogs every day, I commented on blogs every day and eventually I became a lot better. I’m not the best writer in the world, but when it comes to blogging you don’t need to be!
Once you’ve been writing for awhile, ask a couple of trusted friends or family members, or better yet a fellow blogger, to give you honest feedback on your blog — what do they like or dislike, what would they like to see more or less of.
The more you blog, the more you blog because you’ll start to see the world through the eyes of a blogger. Anything can inspire you as a potential blog post, and you’ll find yourself constantly thinking to yourself, “That would make a great post!”
2) Read other popular blogs. What makes them popular? What are their readers responding to? For example, Weddingbee focuses on real brides planning their weddings, Style Me Pretty focuses on editorial features of real weddings, and Snippet and Ink focuses on Inspiration Boards. We’re all wedding blogs, but we all have a different focus, voice, and aesthetic.
When it comes to your blog, try to have a perspective that people are interested in hearing about. Try different things to see if they work. Oh and a nice design goes a very long way.
On Wednesday evening, I attended a Wedding Library event at the Metropolitan Club and finally got to meet Claudia Hanlin and Jennifer Zabinski — the fabulous gals behind the Library. Darcy Miller was the guest of honor, and she brought her wedding scrapbook to the event. It was the most fabulous thing I’ve ever seen… stay tuned for tons of pics of it below! But first here are some pictures of the event!
Bee!
The vast majority of people call me by my last name, Kim. I’m used to it, so it generally doesn’t bother me. But even people that know me accidentally call me Kim from time to time. I recently changed my email to read Kim, Bee instead of Bee Kim so that it would be clear Bee is my first name, but I still get called Kim 90% of the time.
I can’t really complain because my name was behind the entire branding concept for Weddingbee, and so far so good!
Do you have a name that people get wrong all the time?
These are the times when I’m reminded that I have one of the best jobs in the world.
Preston Bailey is throwing a star studded 60th birthday bash at Studio 450, planned by his dear friend and celebrity wedding planner Marcy Blum. The elements that go into the affair will be very similar to a wedding, so I’m going to be documenting the behind the scenes of it all! Would you ever believe that Preston is turning 60?!
Do you have a burning question for one of our PROS? Or do you have a general question about photography, invitations, flowers, or anything weddings?

EventDV is the industry authority for event videographers, and they’ve just released their list of of the most influential videographers of 2009, as voted by their readers. I’m super happy to announce that our very own PROS Patrick of Still Motion and William of Humanstory Films are both included — they totally deserve it!
I’ve also worked with Kristen of Bliss Video Productions and am a big fan of Elysium Productions and Joe Simon Productions. Congratulations to all the talented winners!
