It rained all day at Carrie and Adam's wedding, but I think it just added to all the wonderful fall touches, and the lushness of Fort Tryon. Sometimes in the parks here in this great city of mine, when it rains, it's lush like a tropical rainforest outside, and all the leaves come alive with brilliant green. So yummy!
I was SO stoked that Namrata chose to come to our session in Indian dress. We almost missed the light, but managed to catch the dusk at my favorite riverside park!

Marissa and Alvin had a gorgeous, simple wedding in Maui. Their day after session was AMAZING! I love Hawaii. It's so surprising and beautiful. Within a one mile stretch, we found rain and cloudless skies, rainbows, foggy beaches and sunset cliffs, and jungle akin to those on my favorite TV show, Lost. In an hour long session, it was as if we had been all over the island. It was so great to hang out with these two, and they were so awesome, scaling rocks, entering unknown jungles, standing on the edges of cliffs at my beckon. I love it when my couples give me that kind of freedom to work! It's so inspiring!
Yes. My job is pretty amazing. Most weekends, I embark upon a unique journey with a uniquely in love couple, and I get to share in all the joy, excitement and anticipation. Somedays I just feel like I'm on the verge of tears all day long, because there is just so much love coursing through everyone that I am in an ocean of it. Dana and Rob are amazing. I had SUCH a great time! Yay!
An extra special thanks to Stacy Reeves who made the trip all the way from Dallas to second shoot for me!
It was one of my favorite sessions in Brooklyn. I'll be returning to Maui to shoot Allison and Scott's wedding in the mystical lands of Hana. I am always excited, but getting to do an engagement session when I haven't gotten to meet the couple first, well, I planned it this way, but it just astounds me sometime how much I love my clients. The people that hire me, even the people who I don't meet when they hire me, we always seem to just mesh.
We took a stroll around their ‘hood in Brooklyn, it was so relaxed and casual and just plain fun. Hahaha, at one point I had them chase geese while holding hands, running and screaming. I had hoped to get the geese to take off, but I forgot that we are in New York City. And even the local animals (Canadian Geese, mind you) are SO New York. They merely waddled calmly away, and left us all with the giggles. After I hung out at their place for a while, and we spoke of our love for our dear kitties. Kitties are a force in this world that unite people, and I enjoyed every moment of my time with this gorgeous, amazing, stylish, fun couple of people. To Maui!!

Janene and Eduardo. I love love.
This was like the wedding I imagined for myself after watching Disney movies as a child. It was one for the storybooks, set in a private chateau in Le Grand Lucé, in the Loire Valley of France.
I feel so lucky that Cailen and Sean found me floating around the internets. It's such a true blessing when I get to work with a couple so kind and loving. The relationship Cailen has with her siblings is enviable. Her brother had so much to say in his toast that he wrote her a book. Her little sister clung to her side as Cailen prepared for her right of passage. At one point, they lay on the bed, gazing at each other with marvel, saying I love you. I mean, wow. Just being around that kind of love is eye opening. And that's to say nothing yet of Cailen and Sean.
I love my job because it is pure joy. I get to be around all these amazing people with amazing relationships, and I get to tell their amazing stories. Sean came to America from Ireland on a track scholarship. It was on college track that he met Cailen, and these years later they look at each other like they each are the luckiest people around.
Also, the Mayor of the town donated all the flowers for the wedding! How insanely awesome is that??

Betty and Kent became some of my favorite people after just a couple of minutes. Since they live in the far off land of Honolulu, we had no choice but to do the engagement session the day before the wedding. I love the Big Island, and with the jetlag I couldn't sleep after 5am and drove around the whole island scouting for 6 hours before we finally met up! After finding so many great locations, it turns out that the best part of shooting the day after session was at Puakea Ranch.
This was the day before.
It wasn't until the day before their wedding that I finally met Betty and Kent. Betty has a smile that could light up a major metropolitan area, and Kent is the kind of man who reminds the world that chivalry is not dead. I so enjoyed my time with these two amazing people, their amazing friends and families. Betty is an interior designer, and in the short time I had the pleasure of being around her, I noticed how naturally it comes to her to arrange everything in a room in such a way as to make it look perfect, simple and elegant. And for her, it's effortless. That's how I would describe this gorgeous, detailed wedding.
I've also never been to a wedding where there was a dog who was like a child. I have rarely seen this kind of love and devotion between two different species. There is some kind of supernatural bond between them, and Kea was in Betty's lap all night – it was so beautiful! I am so happy when I meet animals who have such wonderful and fabulous lives for the owners that love them so much!
Here is a list of the amazing crew that put this amazing wedding together!!:
Coordinator: Christina from Pacific Aisles
Lighting: Hawaii Event Lighting
Food (it was amazing!): Paradise Gourmet Catering
Venue: Puakea Ranch (this place is UH-MAZING! It usually serves as a Bed and Breakfast, and instead of a room, you can rent a whole house on the ranch!!)
Cake: Short-n-Sweet Bakery and Cafe
But wait till you see Betty and Kent's day after session! Yummy!
Sydney and Jeremy are really special people. Not only did they successfully convince me (granted, it didn't take much, but still!) to move to San Francisco eventually, but shooting their wedding was an experience I will always be thankful for. It's rare that you find a community of people who so consistently and genuinely express unconditional love for each other. Everyone there was so supportive, so loving, so expressive of that love, that I had a really hard time choosing even these photos for this blog post. And knowing how special Sydney is, and how special Jeremy is, it comes as no surprise.
The wedding took place at Point O'Pines, a girls camp near Brant Lake in the Adirondack mountains. Did I mention I love shooting in the woods? It inspires me so. One of the coolest things about this wedding was that they rented out the whole camp, and Sydney had a slumber party with her girls the night before in their cabin. How cool is that! Almost every guest stayed the weekend at the camp, and by the time I got there, it really had that lovely bonded camp feeling. As a person who went to summer camp when I was a kid, and as an adult a little bit, too, it reminded me of the warmth of getting to know people away from life. What a great way to get your guests to know each other a little bit better! When I got there, people were canoeing, there was a lap pool structure in the lake, people were going hiking, having bon fires, and a generally awesome relaxing time. And! On the night of the wedding there was no curfew, since everyone was staying there, they could all party all night long with no worries about overstaying welcomes or driving home inebriated! This wedding was awesome!!
