Anne Ruthmann, New EnglandOccupation: PhotographerWebsite: Anne Ruthmann PhotographyAbout Me: Things that make me happy: old people getting crazy on the dance floor, world travel, hello hugs & goodbye kisses, cultural celebrations, acoustic live music, indie handmade crafts, cinema, environmental protection, diversity, the sound of nature, authenticity, white water rafting, discovering artists, photographing people in love. Things that bore me: bland food, celebrity gossip, negativity, fake anything, waiting in lines, egotism.
Here’s an itty bitty, teeny weeny, isn’t fair, hardly any, sneak peek of only a few of the fabulous weddings I’ve had this year! I have so many gorgeous weddings to blog - I love my clients!! Read more…
Flush Designs, PasadenaVendor: Invitations, Event & Floral Design, PhotographyWebsite: Flush DesignsAbout Me: Flush Designs is run and owned by me, Courtney C. Keefe de Jauregui. It is all encompassing, from the custom & handmade invitations seen at my website, to full exploration in event styling and design, to flower arranging, to playing sidekick and second shooter to my husband's wedding photography. I am working on becoming a wedding "One stop shop". :) I am a graduate in fine art painting, but a self taught graphic designer. As I still needed to get my hands dirty, I started taking letterpress classes, thus becoming my new love. When I am not busy working (usually still in my pajamas) and telling myself to remember to buy a new chair (this one hurts), I am singing to my 3 cats and enjoying a cold pint with my husband at our favorite local Irish pub. Maybe it's in the reverse order. :)
Kristy Rice, PennsylvaniaVendor: Invitation ArtistWebsite: Momental DesignsAbout Me: I remember drawing by flashlight way past my bedtime as a
young child – I never stopped. For me creating art is not an act but a
lifestyle. I am passionate about creating moments on paper, my
home, loving my hubby and believe you can never have too
many fantastic handbags.
An enchanted garden is the inspiration for Christine’s custom wedding invitations. She loves flowers and pattern so I envisioned a simple dahlia silhouette filled with my signature lacy pattern. Hand-painted touches of creamy ivory, rich plum and sheer lilac are lovely against a champagne shimmer cardstock.
Punam Bean, New York CityVendor: PhotographerWebsite: Punam Bean PhotographyAbout Me: Punam Bean is an international destination wedding and portrait photographer based out of New York City. She loves animals, and particularly longs for the companionship of a bulldog, in addition to that of her ever loving Husband. She eats pizza for breakfast every single day, and spends too much money on dresses. In this, her first year of business, she's booked 30 weddings all around the world, in New York City, California, Jamaica, Venezuela and Nigeria. Her images have been described as emotional, whimsical and elegant.
It rained all day at Carrie and Adam’s wedding, but I think it just added to all the wonderful fall touches, and the lushness of Fort Tryon. Sometimes in the parks here in this great city of mine, when it rains, it’s lush like a tropical rainforest outside, and all the leaves come alive with brilliant green. So yummy!
Llubav Choy Duerr, BrooklynVendor: Accessories DesignerWebsite: Llubav Co.About Me: Combining my personal aesthetic of art as a visual feast, a background in textile design, and a love for fashion, I created Llubav Co. with the aim of brightening up your day. I use Hungarian wool felt, American wool, linen, filigree, and vintage embellishments to produce ring pillows, stationery and fashion accessories that are as unique, vibrant and colorful as my Latin American upbringing. I live and create in Brooklyn, and I have two beautiful guys in my life -- my husband Chris and our baby son Mikus.
I had the opportunity to work with this exquisite palette for a wedding in August.
Jessica and Khalid were married at the Austin Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria in sunny Austin, TX.
The colors were Tiffany blue, different shades of red and touches of grey. Birds were an important element, inspired and adopted from the Lenox Chirp China collection. The flowers were dahlias and roses for the bridal bouquets and carnations for the centerpieces.
The inspiration board: That is the actual building the couple got married in! It feels like it belongs in Morocco, no?
Joe Simon, Austin, TXVendor: VideographyWebsite: Joe Simon Wedding FilmsAbout Me: We love to film, travel and meet new people, and somehow we stumbled into the most amazing job that lets us do all this! I'm Joe Simon, and I run Joe Simon Wedding Films based in Austin Texas. This upcoming year will mark my 10th year of wedding filmmaking. We have been blessed to be able to shoot with couples that are fans of our work, and they continue to inspire us to create awesome films.
Vanessa & Tony had a super elegant wedding in Houston TX; everything was top notch from the beautifully amazing flowers to the 15 person band that had guests dancing all night long.
The ceremony was held at St. Annes Catholic church followed by the reception at the Corinthian in Downtown Houston.
Vanessa wanted a mix of HD and 16mm film to give their video a unique and nostalgic feel. 16mm film has such a beautiful texture and it really compliments skin tones.
The day was amazing, I’m so glad we were able to be apart of it!
Melody Brandon, Long Beach, CAVendor: BakerWebsite: Sweet and Saucy ShopAbout Me: Sweet & Saucy Shop is a dessert studio that specializes in cakes, cookies, and cupcakes, as well as many other goodies that taste as good as they look. Our new bakery storefront will be up and running within the next two months!
This last week was a whirlwind experience! I had just completed the previous week’s order, which included wedding cakes, lots of cupcakes, and of course a last minute 800 cake lollipop order (not to mention that my mother was out of town in Hawaii that whole week), and as I sat on my couch at home trying to take a breather, I got a call from none other than the Oprah Show!!! To say I was shocked was an understatement, but of course when they asked me if I could get 500 sugar cookies out for the Ellen Show by Thursday, I said yes! My family knows that I will almost always say yes to anything and then I just try to figure out how to do it!
For all of you who don’t know the whole Oprah/Ellen story, Ellen had been trying for quite some time to land on the cover of O Magazine and this past week her wish came true. O Magazine wanted to send her a special gift to congratulate her on the day the magazine came out and that is where I came in. I have to say a big THANK YOU to my whole staff, family & friends for helping me pump out 500 amazing cookies in 48 hours…it was quite a task (along with running a storefront and making other daily orders as well), but they did an amazing job with it! So here are some photos that I took to document the fun experience! Hope you enjoy them!
Amelia & Justin Lyon, Orange CountyVendor: PhotographerWebsite: Amelia Lyon PhotographyAbout Me: Hi, I am Amelia. I like to dance and sing my heart out in the car. My family has been in the wedding industry for 3 generations. Being the first photographer in the family, it has given me a unique perspective on how to keep things fresh and fun! Hello, I am Justin. I like to play Ping-Pong, and I too like to dance. Being a film and TV producer by trade, I am obsessed with finding the story that every image has to tell. Collectively we are wedding, portrait and music photographers. Now that we've started to tell you our story, why don't you let us capture yours?
Once again, I heart LOVE shooting family weddings! I also heart LOVE visiting and shooting Idaho in September! When you put family, weddings, and Idaho in September all together it equals a very happy and content Amelia!
Justin’s sweet cousin Ashley contacted us a few months ago to attend and shoot her wedding. We anxiously accepted because 1. we love Ashley and 2. we really needed a good excuse to visit family in Idaho! I ended up having to go alone because Justin needed to be on set at Yo Gabba Gabba!, but I lucked out with great help with some of Justin’s other cousins Jeramy and his sweet wife Shelley (you may recall these two from their wedding we shot last September, also in Idaho).
Jessie Blum, New JerseyVendor: OfficiantWebsite: Eclectic UnionsAbout Me: I began writing & officiating wedding ceremonies in 2008, and love every single moment of it. It all started when my best friend asked me to officiate her Jewish/Lutheran/Pagan (but completely non-religious!) wedding - since then, I've found a love and passion for creating original wedding ceremonies that truly reflect the couples being married. Wedding ceremonies should be all about the bride & groom's love, relationship, and commitment, and I do my best to make sure everything is just perfect! I live in Northern New Jersey with my fiance and our two kitties, and, when I'm not meeting with my awesome couples or writing wedding ceremonies, I love to knit, obsessively check my email, and plan my own wedding (Oct 2010!).
Cathleen and Matt were married at the spectacular Highlawn Pavilion in West Orange, NJ in late September.
It was a beautiful, sunny day. Their ceremony was sweet, funny, and meaningful, and included this reading, from Plato’s Symposium (a great non-religious reading!):

Ok so seriously have I mentioned lately how amazing Jesi Haack Weddings is? Well this wedding sure does prove it. On top of that this wedding is like my dream come true - not only is at my new favorite wedding venue Marvimon but it also was a collaboration of some of my favorite wedding vendors!
How amazing are the florals!? Succulents + Kale + the brides grandmother’s pearls on her bouquet? Jesi Haack Weddings was the genius behind the lovely details of this event AND the ridiculously gorgeous florals! I adore the pops of purple like the bride’s adorable purple pumps!
