Jessie Blum @ Eclectic Unions's Picture
Jessie Blum, New Jersey Vendor: Officiant Website: Eclectic Unions About Me: I began writing & officiating wedding ceremonies in 2008, and love every single moment of it. It all started when my best friend asked me to officiate her Jewish/Lutheran/Pagan (but completely non-religious!) wedding - since then, I've found a love and passion for creating original wedding ceremonies that truly reflect the couples being married. Wedding ceremonies should be all about the bride & groom's love, relationship, and commitment, and I do my best to make sure everything is just perfect! I live in Northern New Jersey with my fiance and our two kitties, and, when I'm not meeting with my awesome couples or writing wedding ceremonies, I love to knit, obsessively check my email, and plan my own wedding (Oct 2010!).
About Jessie Blum @ Eclectic Unions

Today's Etsy Friday was inspired by a beautiful locket I spied on the front page of Etsy earlier this week. I love when couples incorporate items that have a specific meaning or memory into their wedding ceremony, and the locket would be perfect to place a small photo in, and pin to the bride's bouquet – a unique and beautiful way to remember someone close to your heart who can't be there today.

This Etsy Friday explores ways to remember special people in your wedding, as well as ways to remember your wedding ceremony after it is over!

This shop has beautiful enamel lockets in all different colors and shapes – perfect as an accessory with your dress, or to tie into your bouquet with a special photo – perhaps a loved one who has passed on, or simply a favorite photo of you and your fiance – creating a wonderful keepsake for after the wedding.

• This week I'm revisiting a 2008 article from the New York Times–101 20-minute Dishes for Inspired Picnics.

• My days of using stick-on labels are done now that I have seen these affordable rubber address stamps by Paperwink. There are so many ideas on this site–I can see how their custom labels, cards, invitations, and stationery could easily help you brand your wedding.

Today I created a video tutorial to show you how to make these beautiful ruffled cuff bracelets. I have made them for many of my friends and I always get compliments when I wear one. You can definitely follow my exact directions, or tailor it to suit your own style. Many brides also order them covered in fluffy, frothy flowers as re-wearable alternatives to traditional corsages.

Flower Girl Accessory

May 26th, 2009 @ 12:31 pm by Llubav

Thanks for the great response on the flower headbands I posted about last week. Here's another lovely piece I made for Pamela's flower girl. She wanted the flowers and colors to match those of the “lovebirds” ring pillow that I custom made. I also incorporated a feather to compliment her bouquet.

Check out Pamela's blog to see how she's putting her “Hollywood glam” wedding together and how she added her own twist to the piece.

About Jessie Blum @ Eclectic Unions

My friend Lindsey does an Etsy Friday every week on her blog – she takes a theme, and finds fabulous stuff on Etsy that fits within the theme.

I was going to do a straight wedding ceremony Etsy Friday, but then I started looking up the first item on my list – ring bearer pillows/bowls/etc. – and saw so many great options that I knew it was going to take a few Fridays to hit them all!

So here's the first installment – ring bearer props! And you don't have to have a ring bearer to take advantage of these lovely details. If you have a table at the front with other props for the ceremony (unity candle, sand ceremony, wine, etc), you can add a ring pillow or a ring plate on there to store the rings until their big moment – and not have to worry about them!

Six Things I Love

May 5th, 2009 @ 1:05 pm by Megan @ Princess Lasertron

1. This red bag from the etsy shop Thrush. They have a great vintage clothing/accessories selection.

2. last.fm. I have been an online radio devotee for about five years, listening to that almost exclusively while I work. Last.fm is my favorite online radio platform because you can skip songs, and I've found that the recommendations based on your playlist are rarely disappointing! You can add me as a friend if you decide to try it out -hoorayformegan.

3. Pom pom garlands from Papier Valise.

Tie, Ties, Ties

April 29th, 2009 @ 2:20 pm by Megan @ Princess Lasertron

I'm huge fan of the neckties from Cyberoptix Tie Lab (they are one of my favorite gifts to give). They are elegant and a little subversive -perfect for a young professional who wants to stand out a bit in the job search. Professor Lasertron always complains about how men have it harder in the fashion arena, because they have fewer options, but luckily Cyberoptix makes the neckwear choice a little easier.

I found Cyberoptix's photostream on Flickr, and I've been having so much fun looking through it today. There are some very creative color combinations!

Finding this etsy shop, drawflowers, so gorgeous…I'm feeling some definite vintage Euro inspiration in her vinyl wallpaper creations. Also loving that there's something at every price point.

A Colorful Wedding

April 6th, 2009 @ 12:07 pm by Llubav

A few months ago, Melissa and Patrick in Texas asked me to make a wedding album cover. Before then I had never made one, but I loved the idea! I also made the couple’s ring pillow, so I wanted to keep the two pieces cohesive but at the same time give each their own personality.

Melissa had a cheery and festive color palette to begin with -purple, orange, hot pink, yellow, magenta, and crimson to name a few. The pillow design consists of different types of flowers taken from the bouquet such as cala lilies, peonies, roses and tulips. I added some silver metallic stitching along the border for a modern handkerchief feeling.
