We recently discovered Etsy seller Rachelle D’s romantic creations - they’d be so perfect for bridesmaids, or for a party!
Charlotte contacted me in December about making a ring pillow for her sister Claire’s July wedding. I thought 'how sweet'…I have a soft spot for sisters as I have two. Charlotte told me there wasn’t a wedding theme but she had seen a previous pillow with calla lilies, and thought it was a great fit for her sister’s romantic and elegant wedding. She sent me a few photos of the bride’s and flower girls’ dresses along with the color palette of red, ivory, champagne and gold. What a beautiful gift from one sister to another.
Hope you enjoy!

I recently shipped a ring pillow to Melissa and Joey in Florida. After looking at Melissa's inspiration board and learning of their love for travel, the idea of a postcard came to mind. Travel, maps, luggage, postcards and feathers would all be incorporated, and this worked perfectly with her bridal colors of clover, ivory, chocolate, and a touch of pink. Melissa loved the concept, especially since it was in keeping with her taste for the whimsical. To bring a sense of elegance, I decided to use subtle embroidery rather than felt appliqué. We were so excited to see all the elements of her wedding come together in the pillow. She requested all Hungarian felt because Budapest is where Joey proposed. I used a creamy vintage embroidery yarn to create the silhouettes of the postcard and stamp, and a finer yarn for their initials. It was Melissa's idea to have their initials on the left side of the postcard. I think that was a perfect touch.

When a stylist for Legally Blonde 2 contacted me about making flowers for the movie, I pretty much died and went to heaven. I was speechless, excited, nervous and so tickled all at the same time. She wanted three different sized roses, but at the time I was only making little ones. So, the idea of making 5” flowers was mind blowing. She requested black, pink and ivory roses, but she only got to use the smallest ivory one -it is sitting on Reese's left shoulder when she arrives in Washington! It's the scene where Reese is looking at herself in her compact mirror. She is wearing a light blue outfit, and the rose pin is on the top of the red scarf.
At the time the movie came out, the owners of Hable closed the office and we took a trip to the movie theater to see the rose pin and some Hable products that were also featured in the movie. It was great to see our work on the big screen.
Enjoy! xoxo

A cluster of beauties
My friends Kristen and Josh got married in beautiful Athens, Georgia last summer in a fantastic brick house with a lovely garden. The house was so amazing! It looked like it came out of a page from the magazine “World of Interiors.” I had been there before to do a photo shoot while working at hable and wanted to move in right away. When Kristen told me her wedding was going to take place there and mentioned all the wonderful decorations she and her friends where making for the occasion, I just knew it was going to be the prettiest celebration, Southern style!
When I got her invitation, I fell over -it was the cutest thing, and she designed it all herself! I'm all about handmade goods with lots of personality. It came in a handmade craft-paper envelope stitched with color thread along the edges. Party flags, birds and a tree-of-life were some of the details on the 10 1/2 x 16 1/2 folded poster. The colors where light and dark blue, golden yellow, brown, watermelon, olive, and avocado to name a few -very festive. I made the bird and party flags idea the main focus on the pillow and put the bird close to the center so it looks like its beak is holding the rings. I added a few beads on the bird's tale for some sparkle and stitched some stars here and there with gold metallic thread. It turned out lovely.

Hi there! Hope y'all are having a lovely day. I want to share some pictures of my son's baptism which happened in January. We had family come from Texas, Michigan and Virginia and friends from the NYC area. The mass was beautiful and Mikus looked sharp in his all white outfit. While preparing for all the activities that weekend I thought it would be great to have rose pins made for everyone taking part in the ceremony and a good way for people to know who the godparents were. I decided to go for the small rose pins in shades of blue and grey keeping it neutral, unisex and to go with the invitations.
I think they turned out perfect for the occasion without being flashy -a beautiful detail to add a punch to the wardrobe and a timeless keepsake that can also be worn over and over again. My husband has his pinned on his dark grey wool coat and wears it to work everyday. I wear my dark grey rose with black and purple.

I think of pink all the time. It makes me happy and I feel pretty when I wear it. There are lots of shades of pink but I personally love hot pink -the hotter the better. Here are some sweets I've been admiring lately:
1. Bloom books have the best color stories, along with fantastic photographs. If you are looking for a great color palette for your wedding or just about any project these books are sure to give you great visual inspiration. I have been a fan and collector for years. And I've had the pleasure to hear founder Lidewij Edelkoort speak about color while attending FIT in New York.

When the ladies at Abitare brought up the idea of me making sachets out of the little fashion ornaments I was tickled. But I didn't think wool felt was the best material being thick and all and was worried the scent would have a hard time coming through the fabric. Well, my worries were a waste of time because they turned out great and they smell wonderful. They make the perfect gift for a mom, a friend, a bridesmaid or yourself! If you live in Brooklyn Heights or anywhere near the area or just want to take a trip there, you can find these cute french lavender sachets at Abitare on Henry and Atlantic.

Everyone needs a little space of their own. Well, here's my corner where all the magic happens. Before this winter, I had a great big table made out of mdf board attached to bright yellow metal sawhorse-legs from Home Depot -totally home made. I loved having all the bottles of beads and ribbons in front of me and all over the table, but it started to get a bit crowded and my working space was getting smaller. So I had to think of a solution, to get a bookcase where they could all be organized and stay away from the dust but still look pretty. Now, I have all my beads and sequins in color groups so I can find what I need fast and easily.
I enjoy looking out the window and checking out all the action going on while I work on my projects. The lighting in the room is excellent and perfect for putting color palettes together, sewing and for shooting products.

I outgrew my work station. This is what it looked like up until last September. See what it looks like now…

We're completely in love with Jennifer Behr's Spring collection! We got to see it in person when we were in New York a couple weeks ago and we're telling you gals, it's gorgeous!
