Pillow Talk

March 9th, 2009 @ 6:32 pm by Llubav

Good Evening!

Hope y’all had a lovely weekend. First, I want to thank y’all so much for the sweet emails and the warm welcome since Weddingbee Pro introduced me last Friday. It really means a lot to me that you took the time to read my story and comment. Thank you!

People ask me all the time how I ended up making ring pillows. Well, the truth is that it kind of fell into my lap. My dear friend Lucy wanted a little something from me in her wedding and asked if I would consider making a ring pillow. I was thrilled and honored by the idea!

We talked about flower colors, location, season and all the girly stuff and I took it from there. I presented her with an autumn wreath design made out of 30-35 little leaves, hand-cut and individually stitched in the shape of a wreath. After that challenging opportunity I made another pillow for another friend, and then an order came and then a couple of more…and that’s really how it happened.

What I love about my job is that I get to work with the happiest and most enthusiactic people — it makes me love my job even more with every project I take.  And I really enjoy reading the brides’ visions and all the little details that excite them about their special day.  I’m happy to work in the creative side of the industry. Stay tuned for pictures of the first pillow I made. xo

Hello There!

March 6th, 2009 @ 12:41 pm by Llubav

I am so tickled and honored to have been invited to be part of this wonderful family that is Weddingbee Pro! I hope to bring you lots of inspiration and great information that may be of use while you prepare for your big day. I will also share details of my wedding along with some stories about working in the wedding industry (which is a new path for me) and anecdotes about the lovely people I get to work with.

Well, now that we got that out of the way, I will tell you a little more about myself. I was born in a small fishing town called Chimbote in Peru, and I moved around quite a bit since the age of 10. From Peru to Mexico then Virginia and finally New York, and Brooklyn has been my home for the past 4 years. I moved to New York to attend the one year Textile/Surface Design program at the Fashion Institute of Technology and never left. I have an interior design background and I love fashion and the city is perfect for that. I was part of the Hable Construction team for 7 years and enjoyed going to work every day because it was just so fun to work around such creative women. I have incredible parents who sacrificed everything to get my sisters and me to a better place, a loving husband who keeps me grounded and supports everything I do, and a beautiful baby boy who loves to blow kisses.

I am enamored with color. I love pink and metallic gold (it’s the Latina in me), and I have the pleasure of working with the best quality of felt out there — that is Hungarian wool felt. It’s soft, it comes in fun colors, and you can do so much with it and not worry about it fraying! It’s great!!

Thanks so much to Weddingbee Pro for allowing me to share my story with your readers and thank y’all for reading!

kisses, Llubav
