Coming back to my alma matter (sounds weird to say that now) and shooting is always fun. It's the familiar mixed in with the “how am I going to top the last shoot here” mentality that makes it a fun challenge. It also helps that Kimberly and Daniel are so easy to work with. They laughed at all my jokes and did everything I told them to do. Sometimes I feel like my couples are working for me and not the other way around. We snuck into Kimberly's optometry school offices and played around with things we probably shouldn't have. Oh the joy of clandestine operations. Can't wait to shoot their wedding next month!

Leslie and Khanh are great friends of ours. We were so bummed when Ingrid and I were booked for their wedding shoot this summer. So they commissioned Aubrey and Blake (the coolest associate photographers on the planet ever) to shoot their wedding and engagement session.
Aubrey and Blake did such an amazing job that I'm a bit jealous I didn't take these. I couldn't help but look at the whole session and feel like a friend that was totally not invited to the party. I'm so glad that Leslie and Khanh got such amazing pictures though, because it couldn't have happened for a more genuine and loving couple.
These are so close to film quality that I almost had to ask Aubrey if she went back to film for this shoot. The colors, lighting and feel of these images are so retro and timeless. Ok, I need to stop or else I'll blow their heads up too big and they'll fly away, literally. Can't wait to see the wedding pics and live vicariously through their lens!

As you may already know, we love doing engagement sessions. The excitement of working together for the first time and trying out new things is a great motivator for everyone. These sessions really allow us to get to know our couples better and can make for some really cool shots that have that artistic touch to them. Well, it’s also an excuse for us to go out and play with our cameras.
Cindy and Eugene contacted us because they saw our previous UC Berkeley engagement shoot and loved those images. Since we shoot many engagement sessions at Berkeley, we had to think of different ways to see the often-visited Doe Library, Sather Gate and Campanile. And this time, Cindy and Eugene brought a football along just in case we were able to sneak into Memorial Stadium again. We did it!
We had so much fun trying to see how many acts of physical exertion we could make Cindy and Eugene do. We asked them to carry each other, jump over each other, tackle each other…you know, the kinds of stuff married people usually do. They were troupers, and I think we got some awesome action shots out of them!
I love the Sather Gate architecture in this shot.
I still remember meeting Joy and Royce at Marianne and Duane’s rainy wedding reception in Berkeley. Joy and Marianne were very emotional at their meeting because they were such close friends from childhood, and hadn’t seen each other in such a long time. I guess photographers are good with remembering who the emotional people are at a wedding. I was also secretly hoping that they’d hire me for their wedding. I guess my nighttime vigils at the foot of my bed paid off!
Joy and Royce’s wedding had everything in it. When Joy was walking down that aisle, it looked like a sea of family members were all beaming at her in such a deeply happy way. I seriously almost lost it right then and there. Yes, I too can get all teary still at weddings. We had green ice cones in downtown Benecia, and their tongues were all green when they got to the reception. How cool is that? Also, the emotion in the room when they danced with both their mothers because their fathers had both passed away, was intense. I’m definitely going to remember this wedding for a long time. Thanks, guys, for having us document your day, and thank you, Marianne, for bringing us together!
