Here is a little fun project I put together for the lovely Janie over at The Brides Cafe - how to turn a boring terra cotta pot into a lovely rustic style affair. Cost for the whole project including plants and supplies is $70 but that is with extra rope, glue, paper and twine left over to do another set. The pots run from $1-$3 so your next table will be about $30 with plants!! The best part is you can do it the week leading up to your wedding as long as you keep them good and watered! Add a few fresh cut flowers into the morning of to give a little more volume I added billy balls and scabosia pods. Both can actually be done days before as they are so hardy. Here is the list of supplies and instructions!
My friend let me chop down a ton of beautiful green apple branches from her overloaded tree. They are so shiny and bulbous, and look so sweet in this weekend’s centerpieces. I can’t reveal too much, but here’s just a glimpse at what my designers have been up to the last few days.
It involves the aforementioned apples…

This is such a pretty table, welcoming guests into the tented reception. My milk glass vase collection is growing slow and steady. I actually see a few of the same ones here! This photo also has me thinking table runners. Our venue now has the option of colored linens, which I was all about at first. But now I am liking the idea of a white linens, patterned table runner, white vases. This photo has also reminded me that simple is always the best with regards to the flowers. We are still planning to do our own centerpieces {with the help of friends and family}, so one type of flower per vase it most likely will be. I found this Weeder’s Digest post by Sarah of Saipua very helpful. She also suggests votives, which is always a lovely way to warm-up a space.

Now that wedding season is upon us, I’m back to working in the studio coming up with creative ideas. It excites me to no end when I can touch flowers.
In honor of the start of wedding season, I’m also launching a new series; it’s a case study of inspiring pieces that I’m working on, aptly named Inside My Floral Studio. I have to thank my bride, Nicole for inspiring me. For her late summer wedding, she wanted something unusual with elements of natural textures in hues of butter yellow, creams, and soft ivory with lovely droopy flowers and foliage like amaranthus. Though I created this centerpiece for someone else, I have to do a shout out to Nicole for giving me a design challenge that I’m lovin’. It’s clients like her that make me think. Usually in the shower, the inspiration will hit me like it did this morning.
