Wendy, Emily's mother and daughter of Mary Wiley, is one of the most talented women I know. Not only does she do wedding flowers, make jewelry, and sew up a storm, but she also makes the most gorgeous ornaments. Her entire Christmas tree is covered in these handmade ornaments and it is really quite breathtaking. I thought it would be a fun post for those of you feeling crafty, if you are lucky enough to grab up glass ornaments like these at after Christmas sales (perfect for right now). Once you have your ornament you want to get crystals in coordinating colors and glue all over the ornament. Wendy has a spectacular collection of swarovski crystals, but you can start with one design and try a few colors.

WV Holiday Timeline

This year we decided to do something a little different with our company holiday card. The card was hand letterpressed on extra heavy cardstock, tri-fold. On each panel the year was illustrated in a timeline fashion, giving you a glimpse into the world at Wiley Valentine. There were fun anecdotes about each employee, along with matching illustrations. The response was so great, many clients are wanting to adapt this same idea to other types of paper delights. Stay tuned for the evolution!

Christmas Card.

My mom is the most creative person I know. She would agree that as far as crafty creating, she doesn't really make anything. (She just hoards supplies. Going downstairs at their house is like shopping at Michaels.) But she is a thinker. She is the brains behind almost everything I have had success with. She is a marketing genius.

One of these days I will write all about how glorious she is. Maybe it will almost make up for what a horrible teenager I was. (I cringe now thinking about it.)

Every year my mom thinks of a really good idea for our Christmas card photo. This past Christmas she took photos of us kids (including her new one!) in about 5 minutes before we all ran to dinner at my grandpa's.
